they get confused all the time. Apple Music is nothing but a corporation who may not be in sync with the artist. It was called Hotline Bling from the outset by OVO.

Except OVO never acknowledged this until they uploaded all the songs together under their own banner.

Everyone IMMEDIATELY called it the Cha Cha remix because it sounded similar, but no CDQ was ever released. I would know. I was looking for it.

oh really the thief didn't admit he stole the song :ohhh:

:comeon:

of course ovo wouldn't say that

but it was initially released as a cha cha remix

just stop

Do you not realize that Drake had the entire world listening for when Back to Back would be premiered? It came on the same show.

And people heard Hotline Bling for the first time.

Everyone ASSUMED it was a Cha Cha Remix...BUT NO ONE EVER HAD THE OFFICIAL NAME.

OVO never acknowledged it as a Cha Cha Remix...not to mention the songs sound NOTHING ALIKE in construction. The samples aren't even remotely similar.

How's he gonna steal a song if the sample is COMPLETELY different?

There isn't a lick of a latin verse, cha cha, or even the nintendo-like sample!

dude... i dont follow drake... i am legit shocked...

only three things I unequivocally gave drake props for was his melody and flows on those two tracks and find your love... plus the fact he had a different thematic approach from everyone else... I also respected the fact he gave a lot of the more undergroundish rappers exposure before they blew up...

he literally jacked 2/3 of his best singles in my opinion
he got all the r&b joints written for him by someone else
apparently had a writing crew for the rap portions since his first album
and apparently has been shafting the less popular rappers he been putting on

Officially done with dude...
Jeff Bhasker: "We actually wrote that for Rihanna. She actually cut it, it was just another writing day in the studio. I think No I.D had that drum beat and that's the classic, 'Jeff jump on the piano,' and Kanye started humming in my ear. We started coming up with a melody, I started crafting the music and we wrote that relatively quickly, within an hour. When you think about it [sings, 'I'm more than just an option, hey, hey, hey,'] that's right up Kanye's alley, that's his style, that's all Kanye.

FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER IT DIDN'T MAKE IT TO RIHANNA'S ALBUM, SO DRAKE TOOK IT AND MADE A SMASH OUT OF IT.

"I'm not exactly sure [how Drake got it] but they were both managed by Gee Roberson who was probably the messenger for that song. For one reason or another it didn't make it to Rihanna's album, so Drake took it and made a smash out of it.

"[That was made] maybe a little after 808s. It's like an evolution of sound, Graduation was a bit more keyboard, then 808 introduced a darker, less sample based [sound]. So there's definitely a lot of progression of the sound going all the way through Dark Twisted Fantasy, which brings it back to a little harder hip-hop sound, but also a very dangerous, almost angry sound.

"The progression of the music, you can hear the thread and progression. 'Find Your Love' has more of a traditional soulful, R&B vibe. But it's got that Jamaican beat in there, so it's more hood. But even the lyrics, 'I better find your loving, I better find your heart,' its very sensitive, in a good way. I think that's the good thing, everything doesn't have to be a false bravado. Having a vulnerability in the music is really powerful too."

Let's break it down:

1. Was this record at least inspired by Cha Cha. Whether through the Melody, the flow, or etc?

Yes.

2. Does Drake have a history of dropping remixes and covers as quasi-Singles to keep his buzz up?

Yep.

3. is what drake doing snakey?

Probably. It's about as respectable as Flo-Rida flipping the top of the beatport chart for his singles.

4. Did Drake use a different sample to get around clearance issues?

Probably.

5. Can this still be considered a remix even if the sample is different?

Yes. Theres a history of Remixes changing melodies, samples, and even genres from the original.

6. Did Drake set off to remix Cha Cha and make it a hit.

Seems likely.

OK. Lets say he got the idea.

Then why is NO PART of the song alike outside of a VERY abstract vibe?

This is sad to me... I really didnt know... thats my favorite drake song

I dont understand why is Drake so popular? I mean he is not a good singer, not a good R&B writer, not a producer, a decent rapper (but has writers), and he is not particularly attractive, nor does he particularly have a 'backstory' that people bought into...

he has a ton of hits, is it that he has the ear for hearing songs and picking the ones that will be hits? no hate, that is more than enough to be a legend in the music biz... i really want to know

Yo I heard the Cha Cha song with nintendo sound effects on my local radio station.

That's how I heard the song in the first place. So not all radio stations are worried about Nintendo suing em.

Nintendo got bigger fish to fry with all them companies in china making copycat rip off nintendo consoles.
