On the one hand, a lot of sex in films used to be there almost purely to titillate or shock, so eliminating that juvenile trend isn't the worst thing in the world.

On the other hand, all that titillation and shock just moved to TV as an indicator of "maturity" and "seriousness," which is just as juvenile, if not more so, than what we had to deal with in films.

On my imaginary third hand, the fact that the biggest franchise in media is pumping out films devoid of any kind of sex or even sensuality is extremely troubling to me. We can destroy Manhattan a million times and kill half the universe, but we can't see Black Widow and Bruce Banner actually act on their attraction like real human beings? :wtf:

The entire paradigm around sex in American media, and in America in general, is stunted and immature as all hell, and this is just another indicator of how stunted and immature it actually is. We can move closer and closer toward iterations of pornography stunt show, which basically has no correlation with how most people actually have sex (no disrespect to the performers...in fact, I actually met a very famous one relatively recently. Smart woman, wouldn't take her home to mother), but our biggest movie franchises can't actually depict proper analogues of real relationships, sexuality and all.

And all this while we try to find the most creative way to depict the Hulk or whomever leveling Manhattan again. It's just stupid, as much as I like a good oversized destructive spectacle.

It actually makes me miss the 80s-90s erotic thriller, some of which actually attempted to take this challenge seriously (before it also mostly became a vehicle to titillate and shock).

Good. They arent necessary. Wish they'd disappear from TV too. Just started watching Insecure and can barely watch it in the living room cause some scenes are like porn

I'm fine with it. Don't really see any need or market for sex scenes in big screen movies, and I doubt most actors want to do them. :yeshrug:
Y'all nikkas lame :scust:

Gratuitous sex can doom an up and coming actress, so a lot of them write it into their contracts.
You made that last part up :stopitslime:

Bro I worked in television for 15 years. A lot of higher profile actresses write this clause into their contracts. If they director wants to have them do they to consent and sign a separate document. Its been that way for years
