He needs to be on a team like the Blazers or Jazz that are just in talent accumulation mode where he can make mistakes and learn. He makes too many game losing plays to be in a title contenders rotation at this point in his career. The fault really lies with the Warriors they should have never drafted him
He’s not.
He knows how to make the right play and he knows how to play within the system, but because he’s fighting for a star role and ultimately his next contract, he doesn’t want to be just another guy in the system. He feels it’s counterproductive to his goal.
The problem with him wanting to be that go-to player is, his skillset isn’t there yet, and because he can’t shoot, it really limits his opportunities on a team where they already have a player who’s the finished product of him.
If he could hit a corner 3 and willingly do dirty work, he’d be starting ahead of Moody right now.

he is trying to actualize his potential and as a result it hurts the team because he isnt doing the simple, nuanced shyt

Yep, for many reasons. Bag in hand vs gambling. Generational wealth at the age of 22.
But most importantly, then he can 100% play in the team concept without worrying about meaningless stats and highlights.
This is what Jimmy does. He got his $56M per and didn't give a fukk about a jumper all season long. Pass, pass, defend, dish, steal, foul, free throws.
