In the comic book Rick doesn't kill Negan; he defeats Negan's group and locks Negan up for a while but then Negan ends up joining Rick's team.

Episode 3 spoilers
1. How is Daryl treated at the Sanctuary?
For the most part, Daryl's treated like crap and is tortured. He's kept in a room the size of a closet with no light. Music blares 24/7, so he really can't sleep. And, he's fed dog-food sandwiches.
2. Does Daryl try to escape? If so, how?
Yes, 1 time. They intentionally leave the door to his cell unlocked, and he tries to escape then. Turns out it was only a test and a part of Negan trying to break him.
3. What happens during the car chase?
There is no car chase in this episode (I know the scene you're talking about, but it's not in this episode).
4. Does anyone die? How?
Yes, 1 of Dwight's friends. His friend tries to escape & Dwight has to go after him. But, he refuses to go back and so, Dwight shoots him.
5. What can you tell us about any of the new characters in this episode?
"Fat Joey" is one of Negan's top lieutenants and is the one who leaves Daryl's cell door unlocked. Daryl, thinking that Joey is just fat and stupid, falls for it and ends up being punished once he's caught. The only other character besides Joey we see alot of in this episode is Sherry. Lots and lots of Sherry.
6. What do we learn about the Sanctuary?
They bake their own bread, have chickens and livestock, and it's very well-fortified. It is surrounded by a walker "fence" or "wall" very similar to what we saw at La Colonia on FTWD. The people who are defiant and killed by Negan and the Saviors become part of the "fence."
7. Do we learn anything about Dwight and how he ended up back at the Sanctuary?
Yes, we get the full story. He basically decided to go back on his own, and for the most part, still feels he made the right decision. The story is told in part by Sherry, and then, the rest is told by Negan.
8. Do we learn more about Dr. Carson and why he's at the Sanctuary?
Not much except he's definitely drinking the Negan Kool-Aid. He believes in Negan and trusts him.
9. Does Daryl eat dog food sandwiches?
Yes, at least until the very end. He throws the sandwich at Dwight in the final scenes of the episode.
Feed a breh who regularly eats squirrels and snakes dog food sandwiches and expect him not to enjoy it brehs
Well...
What they have shown on the show is fairly accurate, except the characters he's interacting with have been switched around... which kind of make his decesions seem dumber than they are.
He is supposed to be obsessed with Michonne (not Carol).
He reveals all that stuff to Michonne (not Carol) cause Michonne is young, hot, fit, black, and the best swordsman he has ever seen. So he believes its fate that a black swordswoman shows up to be his kingsguard and queen, since he has been living as a black king.
He is a solid dude in the comics... I like him.
He's not a great fighter (notice he has another dude disable the walker then Zeke moves in to execute it) but he isn't a bytch either. He'll go on runs and missions and fight. Even though he has a sword and a scepter his main weapon is Sheeva. Its an autonomous killing machine.
In the comics when he is syrrounded by a couple knights, Michonne, and Sheeva he is basically invulnerable. So despite not being a great fighter he always is on the front lines to give courage to the others (like a real king). He is a good leader. People trust/expect Rick and his group to do things in Alexandrea, but at the Kingdom Zeke inspires the people to do things themselves... and he'll be right there with them, leading them on.
Take for example how much time/energy he is putting into that boy on the show. Getting him personally trained by Morgan, walking him through what has to be done on missions. He didn't get upset when the boy messed up attacking the walker, and he indicated to Morgan the boy is no good with guns and swords... so that indicates he has already tried and failed several times to train him unseuccessfully but has not given up on him.
Rick would of written that kid off as weak and re-assigned him to a safe job.
Its very different leadership styles.
