An atom in itself is about 95-99% empty space, yet all that empty space adds up to you, me, the computers were using and a lot of other things.

Astronomican Unit = the distance between the earth and the sun.

That distance is 92,955,807.3 miles.

If you pointed a gun at the sun and pulled the trigger, it would take the bullet 17 years to reach the sun.

if gravity does not exist
if it does and we ignore all other planets then the bullet is traveling at least at escape velocity and then will accelerate above that as it approaches the sun. then you have to decide what exactly is the sun surface proper to determine the end point of your journey. so it may be more interesting to recalculate with these parameters in mind
