Its almost impossible for the US military to engage in another war, they still have soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq and wherever the fukk else. Trump pretty clearly couldn't give a fukk about anything other than America either, he doesn't care about foreign policy unless its a vote winner back home.
That's not even remotely true. There were 240,000 soldiers deployed in Iraq at the height of the war. There are only about 5,000 there right now.
There were over 100,000 soldiers deployed in Afghanistan at the height of that war. There are only about 15,000 there right now.
It would be incredible idiocy to start another war at this point (or ever), but it's not a manpower issue. They could easily raise enough men to keep fighting more war.
Yes? Do you think the US military is capable of fighting unlimited wars across the world? When has Trump given a shyt about foreign policy? He is the most parochial American president in decades.
What, in your mind, would stop Trump from starting a war just because he felt insulted? Or because he thought it would make him look tough and powerful? Because he needed a distraction from the scandals? Because his base is a bunch of hawks.
There are a million reasons he might do it.
On the other hand, what is the moral center that keeps Trump from doing bad things? What is the knowledge of history and military capabilities which keeps him from doing stupid things?
The only thing between Trump and war is whether or not he believes it will increase his prestige and power among his base. If he feels like war with Iran is popular with the 35% of the country that fanatically supports him, and if whoever random people he trusts at that moment doesn't convince him it will be an absolute disaster, he will go to war. Same goes for North Korea, Somalia, or anywhere else.
