This dude such a fukking clown.
10,000 hours to mastery was bs and a main driver to the start of the toxic positivity culture.
"Intrinsic ability doesn't matter because if you work hard you can be a savant!" Nature doesn't completely work like that.
Now this.
Grifter who's done an insane amount of damage to modern culture and society.
I know enough to know his whole grift.Sounds like you never read his books.
Keep out of this … respectfully.
If you've read any Gladwell you know that his job is to write rules of thumb like this that interest people and that can be easily shared. Some people learn much faster than others and we all have our natural aptitudes so generalization is kind of silly.
Come one now.I know enough to know his whole grift.
I don't got to read the book to know innate talent exists.Come one now.
Ryle number one in learning is read it for yourself.
Sounds like you never read his books.
Keep out of this … respectfully.
The hurtful part is that his mother is Jamaican…,Dude from my city and went to my alma mater. I've read all of his books up to David & Goliath until I realized dude is a legitimate hack.
He just takes big ideas and re-packages them without any real explanation to how he comes to his conclusions and the evidence he's presented has been consistently disproven. Thing is, he's actually a good writer and can easily trick you into believing he's not misrepresenting the information he's using. He writes pop science - not social science (like he'd want us to believe).
“i don’t have to read the book” …I don't got to read the book to know innate talent exists.
I can look with my own two eyes and make that observation, like everyone else can.
Some people will never reach a level no matter how much time they punch in, while someone else can get there in a month. That stuff happens.
All his stuff does is raise people's expectations and set some ridiculous standards that people think should be seen as normal. “Why don’t you just work harder? There’s no excuse!”
But he never said innate talent “doesn’t exist.” Your interpretation of his stance is off, which is why you should read the books yourself. And that’s not saying that you won’t still disagree, but at least you can be more accurate with your disagreements.I don't got to read the book to know innate talent exists.
