TBH it's my GOAT horror film it still holds up to this day a lot of it has to do with the practical effects but the fact that the monster used the paranoia of the men they were hunting added that extra level of fear to it. The way they went after the guy who was the secluded loner who always took care of the dogs is a great example and the way the chair scene is set up and executed is still all levels of :ohhh::merchant::whoa::demonic::sadbron:

I'd say the the temperature is mildly cold, mostly due to how uninspired and pointless that Carpenter vs Craven discussion you tried to start was.

Seeing as how everyone who answered it gave intelligent answers and had no problem answering it, I'd say you save that shyt and go find something to make you happy. Don't see anyone else complaining but you. go play somewhere and be happy breh lol. No one asked you to respond anyway:russ:

Nah, you'll need all the happiness in the world for yourself to keep you comfy once you've seen that Spectre bullshyt.

I'd respond to your pathetic detracting post but we're talking about The Thing here, remember?

So back on point, while the blood testing is a classic scene, I always felt the chest defibrillation scene had by far the best effects in the movie.

I've always loved the scene where Doc kinda snaps and starts going gangsta with the gun. Mumbling shyt and popping off all old school like he's in an old b&w movie.
"I kiiiilll you!!!"
Then gets bumrushed by McCready and others and all you hear are them putting work to old dude.
Sounds effects sound straight outta Bonanza episode :mjlol:

"I kiiiilll you" kills me every time. I like when they went to talk to him in the locked up shed and he was like, "I'm alright now. Seriously, I'm ok. I want to come back in, Hey listen to me" and they just closed the peep hole with no fukks given. I'd still like to know when he got infected though. Something else too is it's sad Carpenter ran out of dough before filming what happened to Nauls. The DVD shows an artistic rendering of what they planned, but the budget wouldn't allow for it.

Have to say The Thing (Carpenter's version) reminds me of the first Alien film in certain ways. Mainly in that the characters were all intelligent for the most part. One gets the feeling that if they were around either crew (Alien or The Thing), you were among intelligent people. I think the fact that both crews were confronted with something so foreign and beyond their expertise, made it especially terrifying. The contrast to that scenario would be the average slasher flick where you expect people to make incredibly poor decisions and pay the price as a result. You have little to no faith in the case of a slasher flick. With the crews of the first Alien and Thing films its' the opposite as for the most part they were capable of making wise decisions and for the most part did so considering the circumstances they were presented with. No level of expertise would be sufficient dealing with the Thing and a Xenomorph.
