I thought she was attempting to pass as a white woman. Those kids were clearly mixed. So I guess she was just a colorist, but that doesn’t explain the wigs. She could have just straightened her hair. Her texture wasn’t kinky.

Idk if she was trying to hide it but it came off to me that she definitely wasn't proud to be black. And maybe she was doing it for her husband as well.
When her new husband and kids confronted her after her other kids showed up you heard how he said something like, "your 2 black kids show up out of nowhere" and she says something like "you're just gonna take in 2 black kids". The way they both emphasized that her other kids were black made me think maybe he felt some type of way
