This started off strong, and the basis of the storyline was good (The Stranger knows everyone's secrets) But it turned into a steam piling of hot lava based garbage after around the 5th episode. I was already in, so I finished the series but they threw every cliché in the book at this. They could have just focused on two stories or families and left it at that. I HATED THE ENDING. hated it.

Don't watch this bullshyt. I mean, watch it, if you like misery, strife, badly constructed endings, confusing relationships and idk whatever else this comes with. This was weird. I like UK tv shows and movies but this was all over the place. It was really good 4 episodes in, then hit the skids.

I know this is not TLR but it's interesting that you say that. They do the same thing over here in the U.S. with the IR push in every form of media.
:ohhh:

Those of us in the know see it. I noticed it ages ago when every 'black' character in a show/movie or any public figure just happened to be a mixed race person.

You guys have waaaay more balance out there and enough black representation to fall back on, that's the difference.

They haven't pushed the black male gay stuff over here as hard as they do in the states - it's growing though - but the IR agenda has been in epidemic proportions in British media for the longest. The IR push in America is a recent thing because they've changed their strategy. I remember not too long ago when that would have caused a whirlwind out there lol. They ain't letting another Cosby Show/Different World influence black minds.

:dead: at how it ended. 6/10

I had the best friend pegged the whole time though.

This should be a limited series and left in the bushes but that close looked like a sequel hook. fukk that I need Richard Armitage free for Castlevania.

Just watched 2 episodes of this. Don’t have really anything to add right now but this: It is blatant what they are doing portraying black men. As soon as the brother came on screen, I look at my girl and said “watch he turn out gay “, sure enough 2 seconds later she mentioned something about him having a man. shyt is crazy .

This the most amount of biracial people I have ever seen on any show ever.

Finished all 8 episodes. I was worried they weren’t going to wrap it up properly, but you literally don’t know everything until the last episode. Even the last episode has more twists like damn, y’all still going with the twists.

:picard:

But I’d like to see if they can do another season with another storyline.

Quoting myself because I told y’all about the biracials.

They make it seem like no black people marry other black people in the UK.

And the Indian girl really threw me off, because I didn’t see that one coming.

I swear it's a Netlfix thing and they all look the same. This show, Sex Education, Daybreak, that monster hunter show all releasing weeks from one another :gucci:

I thought the light skin cat on Locke & Key was gay as soon as they showed him

Yep, this show is Biracial/IR Mania - even for a UK series. It's ridiculous.

It's no secret that British shows go out of their way not to portray black couples/families and it's been that way for a looong time. You look at most adverts on TV and they will put a black man/woman with a cac, asian, dog, alien etc basically any and everything but another black person. It's happening in the states now too but that's a more recent thing.

The problem with a lot of these writers is that even in 2020 they still don't have a clue how black people really interact with each other. That's why you have some black characters that sound like something straight out of a Mary Poppins movie just by the ultra cheesy jokes they make and the things they do which is ultra cringeworthy. They might throw in a couple of patois slang words here and there, but it sounds so forced they might as well leave it out altogether. This dainty, goofy, backup singing sidekick cop of that woman, I don't know what the fukk that is. :dahell: Her husband who looks 20 years younger was actually part of a real black TV series from the early 2000s called Babyfather - THAT was authentic. All the mixed race girls in this get the shine while the full black characters seem to play the background. They've been trying to use biracial people as our replacements.

Many other UK shows are the same way. Even 'Undercover' which stars a black family (Sophie Okenedo is biracial, but whatever...), the way they talk and interact with each other - I don't know any black family like that. I'm not saying we're a monolith but trying to find something remotely relatable is like a needle in a haystack. Top Boy is one of the few shows without that bullshyt and even then, it's like we can't have something that has black families in normal day to day situations - criminality and dysfunction somehow is always the backdrop. This is why I wish many of the black actors who are now successful state side and even here would create something the average black person in the inner city can properly relate to without people sounding like fukking Charles dikkens. We had better representation decades ago and have gone backwards. The real shyt I could post from youtube, sadly most of it goes back many years.

As for the show itself, meh. It's alright but it doesn't float my boat. :yeshrug:

Luther it ain't.

Thank you breh for this. Good to get perceptive from the other side.

When I see shows like this with so many biracials, I just think maybe the biracials are more that black folk in England.

Saw the last episode. It was aight.

I still can't believe they paired that gargoyle of a female detective with that young black breh. WTF? :stopitslime:
