Looking at the nominations...when is the last time an artist with zero traction like Doechii stacked so many nominations and awards show performances? She signed to TDE/Capitol, dropped a bunch of videos that didn't do anything, dropped an EP that didn't do anything, still doesn't have an album out...yet is getting these looks. It's impressive from the label/marketing perspective but man it seems clear she's not gonna blow up.
Right. That’s why I don’t listen to Grammy slander anymore. This award show was great. People spend more time telling us “we shouldn’t care about a Grammy we need a black awards show” than uplifting the shows that you actually do have. That shyt is extra annoying smh"We need a black award show"
Who is major on that label aside from Kendrick, SZA, and at one point Q being semi-major. I can’t even see how the expectation of “blowing up” is anywhere near an expectation you have for her…Looking at the nominations...when is the last time an artist with zero traction like Doechii stacked so many nominations and awards show performances? The problem with both Soul Train, which was literally buried and never promoted for like a decade straight in addition to the show no longer existing which deteriorates cultural significance, and BET is the stars neglected both, esp the soul train awards, for so long, that no one wants to watch. BET needs to get their shyt together and do more outreach to A listers, they also need to tone down the ratchet and move back to making it something that can be enjoyed by multiple generations…soul train, let’s be honest, will probably never regain traction.Right. And I'm happy about that. Maybe they'll be successful and usher in some new groups. They’re really pushing FLO
