Grandma Gums
I remember the nj.com Sopranos forum was hype because someone posted something saying that the music playing in the end was war music.one of the GOAT episode endings...that chilling music...the ice gold hug Tony and Chris share...
...no more a ‘dis
I remember having that Tiger Woods documentary on in the background one day and ‘Evidently Chickentown’ started playing. Had to do a double take to make sure that I had the right show on.
I knew the hug shared between Tone and Chris was on some dark, toxic shyt, but I didn’t think it would be connected to what would transpire just a few episodes later.
I thought that as well at first but with all the Cleaver shyt going on, the aftermath of Ade’s death, and the eventual relapse, it was clear despite a hug between the two that Tony and Christopher’s relationship was shattered and never going to be the same.I thought the hug was the last moment they were good, if you look at Chris face you can tell he cracks a smile like "I'm back in his good graces"
And I always felt Tony couldn't help but embrace him bc after all the fukk ups at least the kid had a beautiful baby now
They just did too mich dirt together and couldn't get over it. Christopher had no good choices after Adriana got into it with the Feds.I thought that as well at first but with all the Cleaver shyt going on, the aftermath of Ade’s death, and the eventual relapse, it was clear that despite a hug between the two that Tony and Christopher’s relationship was just never going to be the same.
Supposedly there’s a deleted scene in ‘Kennedy & Heidi’ where Tony and Carmela don’t get an invitation to one of Christopher’s cookouts, and if you look at the episode thumbnail you’ll see a snippet from that scene. Tony even references the party before Chris crashes the truck. I think Chris at this point is just done with everyone and seeing Tony laughing along at Paulie’s cruel joke in the prior ep was just the nail in the coffin.

That whole exchange Tony and Chris had before that hug always came off as fake to me. Whole relationship at that stage just came off as super awkward, and then to factor in that thing with Skiff. Tony hanging up on Chris in the S6B opener was fukked up as well.Eh Chris asking him to switch spots after the crash was the final straw, especially after he saw the branch in the baby seat. I'll still maintain that hug was the last of the genuine goodwill between the two. Chris looks genuinely relieved to be embraced by Tony, his father figure, just like the old days
Like I said the resentment was there building up on both sides but this was the last real moment. Tony gave him a lot of chances no one would get and I think once he had the baby he figured this could be a turning point for Chrissy
His hatred for T had reached epic levelsI thought that as well at first but with all the Cleaver shyt going on, the aftermath of Ade’s death, and the eventual relapse, it was clear despite a hug between the two that Tony and Christopher’s relationship was shattered and never going to be the same.

Chris looked scared and unsure upon the embrace. Tony looking like he’s questioning himself as well. Thought the scene along with the sinister music acknowledged there being an external conflict (Phil) and internal conflict (Chris) brooding underneath.
