I think the reason FNL never did numbers is because most people probably assumed it was some cheesy high school football show, when in reality the actual football part of the show was almost an afterthought.

After it ended, Grantland did a piece where they interviewed everyone involved with the show and how it almost got canceled several times. Kind of a long read, but well worth it...

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Couldn't Lose

Yes it was only after it gained critical acclaim

LMAO. Dude looks like he's 32 years old in that pic but he's in high school? :martin:

Nah but on the real, I love FNL. I watched it again earlier this year.

Shows how great the show is.

Being from London, I have no real interest in American Football, but damn FNL is so much more than just football.

Its in my top 3 shows of all time, never wanted it to end.

The lumps I used to get in my throat
:mjcry:

Even the shytty season 2 during the writers strike wasnt as bad as other shows during that period.

The stories

The characters and the chemistry between them
:wow:

Coach and Tami, damn they were like a real life couple, I am very sure they added a lot of ad-libs to their dialogue, it just seemed so real
:wow:

And then the girls
:takedat:

Lyla was always my fave

That Julie growth spurt seemingly overnight... :shaq:

This is why I never watched it. I thought it was Degrassi but with jocks. I have to watch it now, just don't know when with all this TV piff out. :ohlawd:

i swear nielsen must be using some outdated tracking methods because everyone online i come across on forums likes this show and it didn't do good numbers. even foreigners on arsenal forums i frequent like this show.
Nielsen DOES do outdated tracking though, that's the thing.

Do yourself a favor and put FNL at the top of your list. I've actually gone back recently and watched the whole series again. Seriously, it's the only show I've ever been legitimately sad about when it ended. You feel like you know the characters.
