Well my brother in law and his fam never considered themselves Somalis but just Oromo. Somalis and Oromo people just have a very close bond from what Ive seen. They have a common enemy and they are both Cushytic people along with the Afar and others.

A tiny minority of Oromos (particularly in the Somali region of Ethiopia) are Oromized Somalis. Other than that, they're their own ethnic group.
