Though I will say, this is his 6th year in OKC. To me the measuring stick is what his predecessors Durant and Westbrook did. Durant was there 9 years, Westbrook 11. They made a Finals and 4 WCF. Right now Shai is 0 and 0. He's in Y7, so the more time passes that he doesn't have a deep playoff run, it'll become an indictment on him like it was for Embiid...
So upon further thought
while I don't think they a lock, it will be a disappointment if they ain't at least in the Final Four. They could finish the season with the best record, certainly a Top 2 record. They gotta get to the WCF at minimum...

Shai still has time as OKC is actually ahead of where many thought they would be a few years agao. It's only been a couple of seasons ago that they were under 500. Now if we get to next season and beyond and the team hasn't taken the next step in the postseason then it will be a discussion. But last season Shai damn sure balled and losing in the 2nd round was about their ceiling. This year they SHOULD get to at least the Western Conference Finals but stranger thing have happened and it's to much talent on other teams to say they definitely will.

If they don’t make the conference finals this year they are going to start getting the lob city, Embid Sixers treatment from the media. This shyt changes quick. It would be like the 15 warriors not even making the conference finals, complete disaster.

right now okc has the best srs (point diff, sos) in nba history and by a fairly significant margin. if they dont make it to the finals it would be an epic failure. in fact the only teams they should get any kind of pass for losing to are cleveland and boston and even then when you have one of the best regular seasons of all time and you dont finish it off with a title, you choked.
They’ve got like a top 3 Net rating of all time and Shai is having one do the best seasons we’ve ever seen.
