People talking about gas and markets...this is deeper than that. Putin and Xi are willing to take a couple of financial L's for the long game. People in here, the US in general...y'all keep talking about things will be rough for a few months. We are playing with people who looking out 20-30 years ahead. We can't see past 4 year cycles...hell, really 4 week cycles. It's crazy, we have a stronger economy and military right now, but we not built to fight against this type of conflict because we can't see beyond 4 year election cycles...

As much as China and the west are economic rivals, they still have trade relations with each other, because they understand how beneficial it is for each other. Russia can't flourish off of just access to the Chinese economy while being completely shut off from the West. Look at the difference between North Korea and South Korea. It's not going to be as drastic as North Korea, because North Korea has way less natural resources than Russia, but just betting on China funding your economy is a bad look and threatens any sense of autonomy. You're basically China's fleshlight at that point. This is short-sighted ego trip that will fukk Russia tremendously long-term.
