Nothing. Putin will get what he wants, just like with Crimea. Honestly, if I was Putin, I’d do the same (not saying it’s right though). He’s trying to reclaim lost USSR territory.

The markets and gas will be fukked up for a bit, but then it’ll likely be back to normal soon.

That’s a likely scenario, but it could also go way worse. Perhaps it could lead to other countries join in, which could lead to a larger war.
