Horsemen: Divine Intervention.
Its a graphic novel.

Seven African gods (Eshu, Ogun, Oya, Oshun, Obatala, Shango, Yemaya) empower seven black men and women and they become a superhero team.

The gods are all actual African gods from the Yoruba religion of Africa, not made up for the story.

This book is a must read. So eye opening. Growing up with my father, who grew up during Jim crow and not even a generation removed from slavery, I always wondered why he was skeptical of medical care. He battled mental illness and reading this book in 2008, really made me understand his skepticism along with most black Americans. They talk about Nazis doing experiments but never talk about doctors buying slaves in order to perform medical experiments. They also advocated FOR slavery and did so because they said, scientifically black people needed to be enslaved because our brains made us lack reasoning on intelligence. It's literally the window into white supremacy.
