@bdizzle
Its really crazy how indoctrinated most of us have become. I'm in a networking group of sorts where I mingle and do philanthropic activities with other black people in my age group (22-29) who are in a variety of fields, both blue and white collar. All of us pretty much work for someone...(I work for black people fyi). During the past few months I have been shooting the shyt with a nikka that really seemed receptive towards the idea of investing in this idea I had. shyt I even, told him of a family member of mines that I was supporting through co-ownership (just money but still) and said that he could get in on that if he wanted.
Finally last week I ask him when he plans on making a move and the nikka blankly said that, "It's safer for me to just keep saving because you never know with how some people run businesses, (he saw my face go
and tries to backpedal) not that I'm saying you or your family lack integrity
just that since you're still starting up and new, I really don't want to risk losing any money especially since I'm comfortable where I am."
My thing is this, if you don't want to do something, be a man and say no its really simple we will still be cool....I don't try to shame nikkas for anything because I've never asked for nor expect handouts but don't waste my time stringing me along just because it sounds cool to be apart of something you never had an intention of being apart of...shyt's fraudulent.
I'm earning well over 70k in a great job at 26 with vertical movement and I don't even have a graduate degree yet and I still don't feel comfortable without having the freedom associated with self-employment and creating a legacy that I can pass down when I'm worm food. I mean even if you don't have the time, you can at least support SOMETHING as a black person. It's baffling how people are.
nikkas actions stay contradicting their words.
Just had to vent.
