Scorsese has like 3 other projects as well. Wouldn't jump the gun on the movie happening soon or Marty being the one that directs it.

We'll probably know in a year or two if this film (with this cast) actually happens.

Yeah, Marty was supposed to direct Schindler’s List, Clockers, American Gangster, and The Snowman at one point or another. He was also involved with Joker early on, though not as director. That’s why I get frustrated when directors like Scorsese announce projects that are years—and sometimes even decades—away from being made, like The Irishman.

It's a shame because Scorsese has done a lot of great films and he's showed before that he's capable of making great movies that are not gangster films.

Aviator was good. Hugo was pretty good. Taxi Driver was a classic film about society. Shutter Island was a great film even though I thought of it as overrated. King of Comedy was also interesting.

Irishman should have been the last Scorsese's gangster film. This formula is so played out.

Yeah that too. It's a great film, probably his top 5. The point is enough of those gangster flicks. Didn't he say something about superhero movies being repetitive and not good enough? All while he's coming back to that outdated gangster formula.
