Jamaica might be the original home of dancehall, but New York City can certainly lay claim to some of the genre’s shining moments. Now we’re bringing together a legend, a rising star, some newer artists and a few New York dancehall institutions for a wide-ranging look at the genre. Featuring a special set by dub master and sound system ruler King Jammy, the event in Ft. Greene Park in Brooklyn will also include performances from Spice, Lisa Hyper, Tifa, Kranium, Ricky Blaze, Mixpak Sound, Federation Sound, and dancehall’s current golden child Assassin, who has recently lent his gruff voice to already iconic tracks by Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West.
