Pretty much. I'd also argue that since that e3 Microsoft has clearly been the more pro-consumer company and has been more aggressive in their attempts to please their fans. Sony got a little early pop and has mostly coasted ever since.

I think the main reason is $400<$500

Can't have a system cost more when your games don't even look better and expect to outsell your competition. If they came out at the same price, Sony would still be winning but I think the gap would have been at least half what it is right now.

Microsoft lost the core and hardcore gamers, which is the most important groups to have when launching a console. They're the early adopters who then convince their casual friends to get the console.

I think for a lot of the gamers, Microsoft burned away any goodwill they built in the early years of the 360. The last 2-3 years of the Xbox 360 were garbage, where they were just releasing fukking Halo, Gears, Forza (kinda like this year lol). Meanwhile Sony started last gen like shyt, but with PSN+, The Last of Us and Journey in the last year or two of the PS3, they became the favorite going into next-gen.

And then yeah, MS dropped the fukking ball with forced kinect, DRM and all that other bullshyt they were ready to do.

The PR for the XB1 launch left much to be desired. The $100 price difference didn't help either. The same thing happened with the launch of the PS3. Also, I know Xbox fans love their Kinect, but a lot of gamers weren't really feeling being forced into paying $100 more for it.
