I just looked at what homeboy posted above you, and they got a group called Flatbush Zombies .These dudes rap like some white rappers from back in the day if you ask me.
lol i fukk with them zombie nikkas, they dope. ya i know the punk/psychedelic rock thing they kinda do might be hard to get into but once you look past that their dope. ( i actually fukk with that entire group that homeboy posted above me, to me this new school shyt is dope may not be as lyrical as the previous generation but they are more creative if you ask me)

their first mixtape was druggy/weed rap they stepped up with their second one imo once they introduce that pseudo-punk/psychedelic rock thing.

EDIT: he posted a wack flatbush zombie track here are some better ones

But there are, that was why I posted those videos to show how diverse the genre has become in the past 5 years alone.

Its not that diverse to me, many of the rap music out here sounds the same.

I am not mad that you got some rappers are infusing there songs with the psychedelic and rock styles. My thing is why are some people acting like its not happening. In the mid and late 2000s Hip Hop was crossing over big time with a lot of Rock N Roll themes, not most of it but you had a good amount out it there. Now ,Rap is becoming so pop based in this current era. People like Nicki Minaj,Lil Wayne, and Jay-z make music that is pop laced and seems totally distant from being organic.

People pretend like its not happening, I am not saying rap shouldn´t of changed but a lot of these rappers like Jay-z are latching on to another style since its none of their own.

I've been long tired of Rap and been waiting for Black people to invent another new genre that involves guitars.

Yall nikkas are playing dumb.. But how are these white rappers doing features with black rappers but are not getting play in the hood huh bytch nikka?
nikkas wearing tight jeans, mohawks, and hipster clothing in the hood and yall acting like nikkas are keeping it solid now a days.Be real.
Don't say give Pimp C props and not listen to one thing he said, thats the problem with you young nikkas out here.Dude clearly said since brothas from every can't express themselves like they can in Hip Hop,then people from places like the South are not going to give a fukk about it.And thats what happened.

Take notes.

Mohawks have been worn for thousands of years... nothing wrong with them.
What is "Hipster" clothing?
You right about the tight jeans tho.

The wearing of Mohawks came from the Rock N Roll influence intruding into hip hop back in the mid 2000s.

Jazz Players from the 1950s were rocking Mohawks way before Punks / Rock n Roll was on the scene.

Naw it couldn't of been that affluent back then. They were more into perming, laying their hair and all the other fly thangs that came with that.

In any case, we are talking about a cultural attribute influencing Hip Hop so much it becomes prominent.Even jazz musicians did wear mohawks, the 95% of the hip hop youth doesn't listen to or look at past jazz musicians to get it from there.

Rapper Newsense of Psychodrama makes it clear she loves rap but is not Hip Hop at all. This is how many artists at the time felt cause you had many rappers,DJs,and other in the NY Hip Hop alumni who made people feel shytted on and not welcomed in the HIP HOP circle. Its the same example I posted of Pimp C

This is why Hip Hop raps went in a decline from its glory, many rappers did not feel obligated enough to preserve it.

nikkas like you want to pretend and make an exuse for the all the fruity shyt trends occuring as of today. You can even look at the way black rappers are making songs today, they sound like pop artists.

The truth is many of the top billing artists of the South and West have even stopped caring about preserving hip hop, they just like to rap.

Even one of the greatest rappers of all time 2Pac says he is not Hip Hop and doesn't care about it.

I'll just say this...it's mad obvious alot of rappers couldn't or can't even muster up the energy to give a damn about hip-hop or hip-hop culture. and it's obvious the worship the dollar more than the artform.

That's why hip-hop culture in 2015 is dead. Sold to the highest bidder. Wholesale.

And yo...it has alot to do with both factors breh...complicit in this sabotage of the artform. Alright, I was just in a thread abot black hairstyles being modeled by a white girl in teen vogue. This is what white people and their corporate entities do when it comes to black culture. They observe it from a far, learn it, and make it suitable and more palatable to the tastes of the mainstream white consumer by putting a white face on it.

No one in the hood is listening to Macklemore, Yela, Iggy or whoever like that. The hood validation though is what makes these rappers authentic. If it wasn't for a black rapper co-signing them, then they wouldn't be taken seriously. Now they dont' even need that co-sign breh. You're kind of late to this...just because people make threads about these rappers on this forum that doesn't neccessarily mean that people are listening to them like that. But then again, this is a HIP HOP message board. Most people who come here actually listen to hip-hop and are beyond fans...they are not fairweather and casual listeners like someone Iggy would have. People like Iggy Azelea are manufactured...before she was rapping she was a failed pop star in her home country. It's not out of the realm of possibility that maybe she moved to America and saw how popular hip-hop was and schemed to make money from it or some exec "groomed" her so to speak.

But yeah, I agree with you that many rappers have stopped preserving hip-hop cause real hip-hop in the scheme of things has become a niche as far as mainstream music is concerned. Then again "black""urban" music has been marginalized altogether.

i like yelawolf and i only listen to eminem when he does his shyt with royce, fukk iggy and caclemore :camby:

also do you know how many different kinds of rappers i listen to:heh: i think only like 6 or 7 of them out of like 531 even remotely sound like pop stars. the problem here is that main face of rap is trap and that shyt is starting to deviate into pop music look at a-trak, flosstradamus, baur and diplo they make white people trap then you have nikkas like waka flocka rapping on that ish

Whites don't have the flow and sound Black rappers have. They sound prepubescent. Even at that, their lyrics aren't anything Earth-shattering either. I don't know why Blacks prop them up all of the time as if they are any good.
