I think a lot of people are underestimating that this period of time is when a lot of (dumb) normal Americans decide what they're gonna do, voting wise. If you're a liberal or conservative your voting plans are secured, you know what you're gonna do on election day. Trump's campaign has been the same from day one whereas Kamala is trying to reach normies who just don't want a weirdo in office. And I think another major factor is people are just tired of the Trump programming culture that mainstream media over indulges in. Trump in office means breathless breaking news every week about something insane he said, did, or tried to do. It means weekend news dumps from WAPO/NYT/WSJ etc about some scandal or fukkery. All that stuff is great for the business of corporate news but I think normal people are sick and tired of endless political news. They just want to relax and not think about shyt until they have to (recession, major scandal, etc) but if that's happening every week it just kills you.
