Yeah, Leahy and Feinstein should be in a retirement home. But at the end of the day, it's the voters fault. Vermont re-elected Patrick Leahy in 2016, he was 76. California re-elected DiFi in 2018, she was 85.

You can't blame voters when the parties have pulled fukk shyt that makes it extremely difficult to compete, like openly boycotting any 3rd-party advisor/service provider who works with someone challenging an incumbent. Imagine trying to mount a primary challenge in a state as big as California when the incumbent has 10x your name recognition, the entire party infrastructure behind her, and no one will work with you cause doing so would mean never getting another contract from the Dems.

In 2018, the California Democratic Party didn't support Feinstein's re-election campaign. Also, California doesn't have partisan primaries.

This is all on California voters. Sorry to tell you breh :manny:

Steny Hoyer's annual bday bash happened 3 months later this year.

Van Hollen, Anthony Brown's whack ass, Angela Alsobrooks, former Governor Glendenning, Every Dem running for Governor of MD in 2022...there..

40 years in the House... 40 years! You feel the power of the Dem establishment in that setting. All these candidates for office also there trying to kiss the ring...

We will never live in a world where people will willingly curtail their own power for the greater good. You’d think at some point people would want to enjoy life, but apparently dying with a firm grip on power is more important.

I just can't understand that shyt. I'd retire at 40 (or sooner) if I was in a position to do so, can't comprehend being in my 80s and still wanting to work..

They fall in love with power and the favors they hand out.

I guess but I always thought of power as a means to an end, not something you would want just for the sake of it :mindblown:

I mean if it's just a means to and end (for example to make money) then I understand because that's at least a rational motive. But I'm pretty sure most of these politicians already have enough money, and even if they didn't there are way better ways to make money than as a member of Congress. But power just to have power? That seems like just a bunch of stress an older person wouldn't want to subject themselves to.

Maybe I can't understand it because it's not my personality type :ehh: but I can't imagine wanting to be bothered with that in my 70s or 80s

It’s power to have power

You are seeing this with baby boomers in the workplace

That’s what I’m saying. 99% of politicians are the same. They aren’t doing it to help you, they’re doing it to help themselves. Which is why I laugh heartily when people idolize and deify these guys.

By now people should realize they are power hungry and trying to live as comfortably as possible or there would have been term limits and retirements decades ago.

I was literally telling a friend that both parties are ran by old people with no new ideas and at this point they are all basically whores for their particular special interests. Basically the leaders of this country are selfish as fukk.

What a fukking joke that a bunch of 80 year olds who probably don't know how to check email are deciding the future

There should be upper age limits. At the very least, elderly members of congress need to take a back seat and let people in their 40s and 50s (if not 30s) take the leadership.
