I halfway knew this was getting cancelled after this, especially the way they ramped up all the drama all of a sudden and from the way they ended this season.

Should've shown more fun and positive aspects of HBCU life and not tried to be an Empire clone. Every character in the show had negative issues and it painted an overall poor and negative image of HBCUs. I know we have issues but the PWI takeover angle was the definitive deathblow for the show and they wrote themselves into a hole.

Yeah all the extra drama with the affair, health scares, addictions, who did it cliffhangers, etc. It was very Tyler Perry-ish ramped up drama only set on a college campus with little actual "college" being shown.
they were pretty light on what really goes on at hbcu, it was no where near anything Tyler is doing, we have become so obsessed with this positve image movement that we don't leave room for the truth to come out.

It's not about a positive image it's about a good show that attracts viewers and this show lost viewers and got worse to many.

You can literally count on one hand how many mainstream black college movies or shows have aired in the 30 years since School Daze. That movie showed the good and bad with balance. The Quad just showed unnecessary drama for the sake of drama.

They wrote themselves into a corner with addiction and PWI takeover storylines. It was no way out and this became less about college and more about Empire level drama. Clearly the viewers also wanted something else. It was literally no positive points in the show because pretty much everybody became unlikable lol.

what positive point are you looking looking for? black folks do date don't they? can blacks be competitive without it being seen as a negative? we got positive from the cosby show and a different world with any reality from the real world. why? because it let white man off the hook on his devilish antics.

The show just didn't feel like college and felt like a Tyler Perry version of it. It doesn't have to be a Cosby version but have some kind of real depth.

And if you say those old shows let Whites off the hook, well The Quad gave them the hook and just showed them hanging us at every corner this season. Every week it was yet another loss and problem. The HBCU didn't get a single win this whole season and the addiction & drug test results were going to be yet another L.

The Quad TV show on BET: Ratings (Cancel or Season 3?) - canceled TV shows - TV Series Finale
Look at the ratings week to week. The viewership was waaaay down and not once this season did they even reach last season's average rating for the 18-49 demographic. People tuned out.

The writing was just bad and it didn't find the needed balance. We dont want a fluff piece but don't make it a Debbie Downer tragedy every single week. If I was still in school, this show would've made me depressed and feel hopelessness.

This isn't a case of a show not getting a fair shake. It got a fair shake and performed even worse having a huge dropoff in viewership.

well guess what? unlike a different world, the quad made a attempt to show what blacks face in the real world when they make an attempt to pursue their education. Felicia Henderson was writing about a real hbcu president who was facing everything you saw since the show started. the ratings system is a bogus game. the advertiser did not want to pay for the show anymore, so they can use that bullshyt as a excuse. how do we know that was accurate figures?
