Can't wait until this comic book movie trend dies out.
been going strong since Christopher reeves. Thats like 40 years, but hey maybe 50 years will be the maybe the magic number for people to finally get tired of it.

:troll:

it is still technically a "trend" after multiple generations of movie goers?

shyt is never going away. Even before reeves superman was a hit tv show in the 50's. This is a genre of film. Thats like waiting for the "Comedy movie trend" to die out.

I watched first class and DOFP. Honestly i didn't like em either. They were enjoyable as films, especially enjoyable period pieces, but the continuity is too unrecognizable to be appreciated as x-flicks

singers first 2 flicks have that same problem but are a little better

The problem is directors translate characters and that's it. They forget or fail to realize that the locations and objects in the continuity are characters in their own right, and have their own distinct tones/moods that need to be nailed down.

A couple MCU entries have that problem on a nitpick level. With DC, shyt, they aren't even getting the characters right lets start w/ that lol

Stop making comic book movies for people that don't like comic books. These are 80 year old characters with definite composite characterizations and visual iconography. When the biggest fans of your superman movie are people who don't like superman, you have a fukkin problem :mjlol:

i'm finally watching the video and he's saying the exact things I did :russ:

I dont know about all that, cuz i dont like comics either:whoa:....But i loved all the cartoons growing up:banderas:....I apppreciate the fact they make the movies dumbed down to where i can understand withoit having to know the comics if thats what you mean....but like u said, theres a reason the comics have been around so long and thats because people liked the stories....and theres a reason people are fans of the characters, and thats because they liked how they were written in the books....i understand taking leeway with characters who dont mean much, maybe making them a better on screen....but changing everybody Singer:dahell:?changing every damn thing Singer:childplease:....i think sumbody said he only watched the cartoons, and thats me too....but what cartoon was he watching, bcuz this aint the cartoon bought to the big screen at all:scust:

The reason these movies suck is because they arent really x-men movies.

These first class films have been primarily focusing on magneto and mystique. thats a brotherhood of mutants movie not x-men.

wolverine has a cameo appearance and storm gets no dialog but Mystque is in every fukking movie carrying the plot.:what:

They may as well make an x-men movie about Toad :mjlol:

I understand why tho, :manny:

J-law is a big box office draw and so is Fassbender.

But i can easily predict which ones will be good and which will suck based how popular that star characters solo comics are.

Gambit solo movie = FLOP just like his solo comics( i doubt anybody in here ever read those). But hey Channing Tatum is in it. :snoop:

DC is doing it too. Does Harley Quinn even have a solo comic? that movie is also gonna suck. but hey margot robbie is popular right now so. :manny:
:camby: FLOP

Deadpool = Fan Favorite from the comics and yet the studios were caught off guard by its success :wtf:?

Wolverine only gets the shine he does because of Hugh Jackman. If they had casted him as Colossus we would've had a bunch of attempts at a colossus film trilogy
What movie starring fassbender has made bank? :why:

they fukked up from the very beginning and i was telling my crimey that when we went and saw the FIRST X-Men
no bullshyt
as much as i love Wolverine (and i understand why they made him such a prominent figure in the 1st movie) but i ALWAYS said they should have just started from jump and then build on from there (you know.. like in the books:stopitslime:). and this was before Marvel/Disney with their universe building and shyt
what i always enjoyed about the X-Men was if you start from the beginning and move on from there the shyt just keeps getting iller and iller
the cast gets more colorful
the villains get more tougher
they coulda did that with the flix
but you know how this money shyt goes :yeshrug:

fukk it

I agree

Xmen is too dark n moody with not enough dope actiom that the marvel films have since eclipsed

It needs a reboot
X-Men have always been dark. The comics deal with racism, slavery (Genosha), apartheid (Genosha), genocide/holocaust (Days of Future Past), etc. Not really light hearted stuff.

i think you're talking about the tone of the subject matter whereas he's talking about the visual tone...

Just saw the movie,
:snoop:
The star worship is outta control.
Jlaw is the hero of the film even tho her character is supposed to be a villian but I can accept that.

What really bothered me is that
she spends almost the entire film as Jennifer lawerence.
:snoop:
She's a fukking shapeshifter, have her do some fukking shape shifting. She doesnt even use her blue natural form hardly much less changing into somebody else.
Seems like she woulda been better suited playing jean grey . Then you can show her face the whole movie and make her the hero without wasting one the best baddies.

Quicksilver was cool again, although a bit over powered. He makes the speed of light look like its standing still. Cool effect but he could essentially just stop the whole movie from happening if he wanted. Maybe dial it back to the speed of sound *2?

Every other character was under developed. They gave all the lines to Lawrence even though she really has no impact on the overall plot other than everyone admiring her.

Plot was basic as fukk so I won't even bother addressing it. (Which is sad considering how much great source material they can draw from.)

Bout to go watch it again :shaq:

I'm a bit mixed... The video makes a lot of good points but I can see why they went with black leather in the first two movies. Back then nobody was really sure that a comic book movie could be a legit building crusher, especially after a disaster like Batman and Robin. So they patterned the look of the X-men movies after more successful flicks like Blade and the Matrix.

However, there's no real excuse for them to not have semi-accurate costumes and storylines in the movies today since other movies have proven that they can work.

The biggest problem IMO is that everyone who isn't Logan and/or played by somebody is treated more or less like an afterthought in the films. They lack confidence in the source material and are trying too hard to market the movies based on the presence of famous actors.

These Hollywood producers don't want to hear this though. For no reason they wan to make their movies 'gritty' and 'realistic' just because some other cat did it, with no thought towards whether or not it's true to the source or works for the characters and stories.

If you want to make a movie based on something, that's cool, just base it on the actual thing and and on some guy's 'artistic vision' of it :camby:
That last bit is exactly what fukked fantastic 4 up
