most of my favorite basketball plays are inside the 3 point line.
The league just needs to find a way to bring back variety to the game. Let the players we are good at 3's like steph still do their thing,
but encourage others to have their game closer to the basket if that's their thing. Not too drastic but i think these two suggestions would help.

1) increase the time that they can stay in the paint instead of a 3 second violation you have 5 seconds.

2) instead of 3 guaranteed free-throws, award a 2 & 1 free-throw system for players fouled shooting beyond the arc. This will allow players to be more aggressive defending threes because they might turn a three pointer into just two points. but not too aggressive that they are fouling steph curry every time he shoots beyond the arc.and we spend the whole game watching free throws.

If you're shooting 35% or better from outside, you're justified in taking that shot. What pisses people off is when those guys slump yet continue to take that shot instead of pivoting to something else, but remember, shooters shoot, right?

I agree, but it doesn't really address anything i said in the quote. I'm just pondering a way to increase the number of 2 point shots.

you said "let the players who are good at 3's still do their thing."

There's more of them now than ever. KAT is one of the best three point shooters in the league, yet every time he attempts one, a part of Charles Barkley dies inside. We want all these players to possess these abilities but not utilize them. Back then, you knew off rip who the great three point shooters were on one hand, maybe 2. Now a good three point shooter is like a baseball player that hits 20 home runs. Now it's an expectation instead of an asset. Tough to fix that unless there's an aspect of the game that's undervalued. the long middy isn't undervalued.

Robotic basketball is the best way to call it

They def should explore making the 3 worth 4 and shots outside the paint, within the arc 3 point shots

There’s nothing wrong with adapting your rules to account for evolution of the game

get rid of the corner 3 and move the 3 point line back a few feet :yeshrug:

To your point about " what i said" that's fine,

what i am saying though;
still think the NBA should find a way to encourage a more entertaining product. That involves presenting a wider a variety styles. More 2's
Pondering a way they can make that happen.
People aren't tuning in to watch KAT make 3's

We went from rushing home to watch Kobe, LeBron, D-Rose, OKC's big 3, Lob City Clippers, Celtics Big 3, Melo and the Knicks etc

to Joel Embiid, Luka, Giannis, Tatum etc

:camby:

Right now Jalen Green, Kyrie, Ja and Curry are the only players worth really tuning in for….. I guess Lebron too. :hubie:

the biggest issue is everyone has an opinion now

at the peak of nba the only voice was pure nba propaganda

they promoted their players as superheroes & nba basketball was the greatest thing since sliced bread

now we have hordes of attention whores chasing relevance through criticism here in the hater era

Instead of escalating the arms race, why not move the three point line CLOSER?
have the three point line essentially be the paint.
thus, its 2 points if you want to bang down low with a size advantage, 3 points for essentially every jump shot.
with those demarcations, teams would be incentivized to take jumpers and runners as close to the paint as possible, but defenses could be less spaced out.
teams could obviously still take shots from further away, and would be able to create more defensive spacing, but the shots would be taken at a lower percentage (obviously) because theyre further away. instead it becomes a game of attacking the basket again, and a midrange game as well.
