lemme preface this thread by saying the first PA was definitely a mega hit and a problem when it dropped
i was working at the movies at the time and that shyt was sold out for months, you had people thinking it was real, people leaving early cause they were shook, people screaming loud as hell in the theater and all types of fukkery
but i just rewatched the first 4 movies this past week and they really did not age well
the jump scares were extremely cheap, you got random people popping out yelling boo at the camera
each movie was good for like 1 or 2 great jump scares out of dozens of attempts
the characters were dumb as hell and i’m talking legendary levels of idiocy, Micah had to be the dumbest character in horror movie history and nobody ever smartened up in any of the sequels or prequels
the camera work sucked and all the 4th wall breaking was weak, i understand these are “found footage” flicks but do we really have to acknowledge the damn camera in every single scene? plus i’m supposed to believe all this life threatening supernatural shyt is going on and the first thing they do is go grab the camera
these movies were good popcorn flick in the theater type movies but beyond that they really were not very good, i’d say decent at best and overrated considering all the acclaim they got
