Huh? America was violent/dangerous as fukk in the 1930s.
Not compared to today. Organized crime was huge and most other violent crime was interpersonal. Killing random strangers with guns wasnt nearly as common, and maybe even more significantly, the world wasnt connected and people didnt report on violent incidents like they do today. So even though youre not wrong, you rarely heard about that sort of thing and most people didnt worry about being robbed or shot minding their own business walking down the street.

Really you are assuming a lot - local and national papers existed back then, and they were read by everyone.

It always amazed me the people of Gotham couldn't figure out Bruce was Batman. No average joe is going to have their own high tech car, plane, sub, gadgets etc. Only somebody drowning in money and Bruce is the richest dude in Gotham.
The average didn't know he had all that high tech stuff. The cops should have put it together though. At least think Bruce was funding him.
