It’s not that the game is bad. It’s basically been on the same game engine for a decade with little innovation and the single player mode has no appeal. Universe mode is just matches on repeat with all feuds at random with no cutscenes that seem tailored to individual wrestlers. The problem is nothing feels fresh. A tweak here or there to gameplay mechanics or adding/removing guys from the roster doesn’t make the game feel new. It feels stale.

I used to be a huge wrestling fan back when I was younger but I sort of fell off. The SVR games were amazing and 06 was one of my favorite PS2 games.:noah: Last one i owned was 2010 but I barely played that because by then I wasn't even into wrestling anymore.

Been having an itch to cop this one but want to know if it's worth it for someone who isn't really familiar with the new generation of wrestlers. :lupe:

I haven't played the latest but played the last three games. Honestly it's not worth getting, especially if you haven't watched wrestling in awhile. If you want to rent through Redbox or Gamefly that's cool but don't purchase.

This games are made super cheap
That's why they glitch the fukk out in every game they release

the game is bad.

they do a fantastic job hyping it up and talking about the new modes...but if we are 100% honest...the modes always fall flat :beli:

The game looks phenomenal in the hype videos where they cut from one superstar to the next and show just the highlights over a good song. But when you play the game it feels like it's a regressed version of their best model.

I don't know why they don't:

Take the hundreds of hours of actual audio from these superstars on TV and implement it into Universe or Story mode somehow (it's not "hard" technology to incorporate for a video game company to batch capture audio clips and implement them)

Take the hundreds of hours of actual movements from these players to make them feel real (You can implement any superstar's REAL entrance by capturing the footage from them actually doing their entrance...OR just have them do one entrance themselves at one of the dual branded PPV)

Have a functional career/story mode. Madden has three different types of "franchise" modes (player, coach, and owner) all with unique quirks, AND has a full "journey" storymode in Longshot. There is nothing stopping them from having something similar.

The game glitches like crazy. I get that in a fighting game it may be hard to incorporate all of the elements of WWE without glitches, but there are some ways to change this by maybe adding QT events for some instances so that things are more fluid. Just like in "real" WWE, the superstars go along with certain spots to make them work, have the game "take over" so your RKO on the table isn't an animation that could trip up, but rather a QT event/clip that looks smooth.

So I copped this yesterday. Played for about 3-4 hours but only got about 2 matches in. The customization in this game is ridiculous man.:picard::whoo:Coming from the perspective of someone that used to play these games in the mid-late 2000s, this would have been heaven back then. :to:The ability to download wrestlers, titles, arenas, images, movesets, and take them online? I honestly don't even see why people would buy this yearly. :pachaha: Right off the bat I see the VC cancer has spread into this game.:mjgrin:I really might end up copping that Accelerator pack. It's cheap and I want to use the VC for myPlayer. Anyway back to the customizing. The face scan feature is tough as hell. NBA 2K's is way simpler. I spent about an hour or maybe even 2 last night just trying to get it to work. Finally got a decent scan though. I know the reason why but it's still a damn joke that you can't transfer your myPlayer into the regular game. It's gonna be a real bytch transferring all that shyt over. :snoop:Not having custom music sucks. Was looking forward to that, didn't know it wasn't a feature. :what:

As far as gameplay I haven't scratched the surface. I just know how to do basic strikes and basic grapples. Constantly pausing mid match figuring out how to do shyt. I keep using Circle to grapple like in the SVR 06 days. :laff: Anyway I love these new little gameplay features they've added over the years. Attacking someone mid-entrance, wake up taunts, hot tags, optional pinning during certain moves. Btw what the hell did they do the Hell in a Cell? :leostare:I liked the older one better. :francis:Anyways games been pretty fun so far. Gonna get a few more hours in tonight. :yeshrug:
