Andre is a curious case. He has Wrestlemania 3 as probably the most iconic moment of all time but I cant necessarily put him top 5 in WWE just for that Hogan feud
What's this type of shyt about? You understand Andre was WAY BIGGER in the industry before Hogan blew up, right? Lol.

Andre is top 5, most of us only remember him from his final years and mania 3 but he really was that big deal a deal. He's been dead 30 years and most people still know who Andre the giant is. Andre might even be top 3.

Because other than the crowd turning on him VERY early into his main event run, what is something spectacular you can say about Cena that puts him up there with those four?

I guess I should've bolded my argument, I'm asking why he's "no way over Shawn". Michaels doesn't have anything "mount rushmore" wise over Cena besides more "classic" matches, which ain't that big of gap to compensate all the other stuff Cena has over him :yeshrug:

Andre has more than just the Hogan feud.

Shawn was around for every era in WWE in some form or fashion since the Hulkamania era. In that frame of time he became the archtype of what you want your progression to look like in terms of buildup as was Bret. Shawn however, has the Ladder match, the first Rumble victory coming from #1, the first hell in a cell, the first elimination chamber, helping usher in the Attitude era with Austin, etc. Cena is def top 10 but you cant credit THAT much to him. So looking at it from the point of view of someone in WWE, Shawn has done more.

What else, IN WWF ONLY, puts Andre there over Savage, Bret, Shawn etc.

I guess I'm struggling to understand what that point of view is. Booking? kayfabe? That's what your posts reads to me. By that standard, Cena is the biggest and most successful champion in WWE history with 16 title reigns, ushering two Eras for the company (Ruthless Aggression and PG), being the first to successfully defend a MITB cash in and being the base to which MITB became such a huge deal (Edge and RVD cash ins) and being an important piece on the last time the product had a spark outside the wreslting bubble (the Punk feud)...I don't like ranking this sort of thing but my point is that you can certainly make a case for Cena by these standards too :manny:

Bruno is on the list, why are we doing WWF ONLY? :dwillhuh:

Top 10 is much more fun because spots 1-3 (Austin, Rock, Horgan) are in concrete (though it’s still fukk Hoegan) and spot 4 is too for me (Macho).

When considering the criteria of OP, I’d go with Cena or Andre as the 5th spot since a LOT of the guys I like better aren’t as successful as those two.

Brock ushered in Ruthless Aggression with the Smackdown Six. Cena ran with it after Brock left. And the PG Era... ...is the PG Era :scust:.

Its WWWF/E, etc i didnt mean just Vince Jr era.

But based on the critera of
in terms of impact, money drawn, fame, kaybe, and popularity

Cena loses on Impact (DX & Montreal), Kayfabe (pretty much was WWE's 90s) and Popularity (Not heavily booed throughout his top run) easily. Cena may have been the last true top top guy WWE ever produced but it wasnt a top 5 run to me.

I think you are hugely downplaying his popularity just because smart fans booed him in his first 2 years on top and then just did it (mainly) because it was part of the show/fun to do. Cena was crazy popular, sold a bunch of merch, was able to revive house show business and was able to burst outside the wrestling bubble. That's way more than Michaels did.

No idea how kayfabe wise it matters when someone "was WWE", I could say Cena was "WWE's 00s and 10's" by that standard. And still, Cena's 16 world title reigns shyt on everything every performer has done in that company if we really want to weigh in kayfabe (which I hate to do because a lot of the time it has nothing to do with the wrestlers and their performances).

If you think Michaels should be ranked higher, that's fine but Cena "no way" being over him I don't buy at all.

I agree i dont really like short definitive ranking lists as the criteria is entirely subjective in a scripted sport.

That being said, you cant effectively do this without kayfabe. This isnt a popularity contest. This is a WWE Top 5 of all time. Impact matters. Shawn has more of it than Cena.

16 Title reigns is fine but the days held is roughly half of Bob Backlunds 2 reigns so do those numbers really hold that much weight here? It certaintly does not "shyt" on what every performer has done.

Like I said Cena is definitely top 10 im not taking away from his own impact and I honestly am not even sure Shawn is even top 5 tbh but i know he isnt ranked below Cena.
