THANDIE NEWTON JOINS HBO'S WESTWORLD
The star of DirecTV's Rogue and the Oscar-winning Crash is joining HBO's tale of a dangerous AI theme park.
13 AUG 2014 BY MATT FOWLER
Thandie Newton (Mission: Impossible II, Crash), who's spent two seasons now as the lead on DirecTV's Rogue - is joining the pilot episode of HBO'sWestworld - a TV series adaptation of Michael Crichton’s 1973 sci-fi film being produced by J.J. Abrams and Person of Interest's Jonathan Nolan.
Interestingly enough, this news comes just days after DirecTV announced that they've renewed Rogue for two more 10-episode seasons.
According to THR, Newton will play Maeve Millay, a "beautiful and razor-sharp woman with a genius for reading people and a knack for survival. Maeve is the Westworld madame whose seen-it-all-before worldview is about to be truly challenged."

Westworld, a "dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin," already stars Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, James Marsden, and Kyle Bornheimer.
Production on Rogue will begin in January, and as of right now it's unknown how Newton will be able to star on both series if Westworld winds up getting a series order from HBO. Though, to be fair, we also don't know how prominent Newton's role is on Westworld.

LORD OF THE RINGS STAR MIRANDA OTTO JOINS HBO'S WESTWORLD
From The Dark Knight's Jonathan Nolan.
17 AUG 2014 BY ANTHONY COUTO
HBO continues to poach genre movie talent for its Westworld pilot, this time signing on actress Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King) for a role in the upcoming TV remake.
According to Deadline, Otto will portray Virgina Pittman, head of Westworld's Quality Assurance Department, whose "brutal honesty" with co-workers and "ruthless efficiency" when dealing with the park's malfunctioning property (AKA bad robots), put her in a position of power at Westworld.

Otto rounds out a cast that also includes Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton.
Based on the 1973 sci-fi flick from Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park), the story follows a malfunction at the robotic amusement park Westworld, which incites a "dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin."
