I predict that Delos's corporation's "bigger game" they hinted at is replacement of key humans in the real world.

:ohhh:That's a good theory. Imagine being able to have your own robot President, CEO, or Senator and nobody would be able to tell the difference :wow:

I'm curious what Ed Harris is up to :lupe:, dude is finding mazes on robot scalps when he's not busy raping or killing :merchant:. Dudes been coming there for 30 years

Anthony Hopkins is definitely up to something as well :leostare:

I've never been a big Old West guy so paying a bunch of money to play cowboy is :ld:to me. Now if they had some spy shyt you could do :feedme:

After a second viewing, I'm picking up more computer MMO RPG game references. The original movie was based on Disney-style theme parks, but this new version is more based on computer games. The Hosts then are NPC characters that are supposed to follow a set script. The first time I watched, my expectations from the original movie led me to think that maybe Ed Harris was a robot that escaped 30 years ago and found a way to pass as human. But now I'm taking his "game" references at face value.

Looks like there's a river boundary that separates the "safe zone" in town from the wilderness outside. They mentioned that there's more "adult" content not suitable for children on the other side of the river. I assume some kind of non-deadly "Player vs Player" combat can take place there. The Man in Black/Gunslinger is bored of just killing off NPC hosts, so now he might be trying to find a way to "hack" or exploit the game to become a "Player Killer" for real. Getting away with murder, without attracting the attention of the team running the game.

I was actually IN the Ultima Online beta back in 1997, when THIS happened:

Loved the pilot. Very slow, deliberate and nuanced.

I think some people expected it to start off with a bang and blow them away but it was just setting up the long game and did so greatly. They introduced so many variables and plot threads in 1 episode it was insane.

Will rewatch to catch things I missed.

Show is fukkin OUTSTANDING. I never saw the og movie so maybe that's why it didn't confuse me at all. Acting is SUPERB, there about to be mad Emmy nomination.

If you watch it a second time, there are clues as to them catching onto the script.

Discount Ricky Lake used that term, might mean something.

So fukkin going

Really good premiere. They pulled a couple of nice bait & switches and set up the levels of how deep this can possibly get. My only complaint is that I think they might've blown one or two loads too many such as revealing there's a bigger agenda to what Ed Harris' character is doing, and the hinting at the real intentions of the company. I think they should've held back on that and just focused on the core plot for now, which is intriguing enough.

At this point I'm almost convinced one of the folks running Westworld is an AI him/herself, most obvious would be Jeffrey Wright because there have been mentions of multiple things happening before his time at the company, so he could be created to assist Hopkins' character with his work, without realizing he himself is his biggest project.

Like I said, they did a tremendous job of setting up all the possible levels this can go.

Guys, I had a nightmare off of this shyt last night :ohhh::sadcam:

Maybe it left a stronger impression on me more than I originally thought. I really didn't like the pilot, but I think it was because I gave control issues, and sci-fi stories like this just bother me on a gut level. I'm gonna give it one more shot off of the strength of it infecting my dreams alone.

Is there any source material/background that would make things a little clearer before I watch the next episode?
