You're using a fight from almost 6 years ago as an exampleHe just lost a fairly competitive fight to the second best fighter in the division and your first reaction is he's a gatekeeper?

He can beat up most of the top 10 (I favour him over everybody not named Hendricks and even that fight is a toss up).

Am I wrong for wanting to see Rory vs Hendricks first. It would be interesting to see how Hendricks deals with a bigger fighter who uses his reach very well. I think Rory beats Hendricks. Then the Lawler/Hendricks title match would be much more meaningful since Robbie holds that win over him. UFC is really rushing these rematches with no real build to them.

I'm not a fan of early rematches as well. Hendricks/Lawler II will be
though so I don't mind.
I think he will b/c of the circumstances.
Gus tore his meniscus just this week, while Bones/DC is less than two months away. The UFC has gotta keep it moving, and they're not gonna sit around waiting for Gus just to get that rematch.
Another win for Gus just adds to his momentum,
Bones/DC vs. Rumble at the end of the year. Then let Gus fight someone like Bader on the same card, and the rematch will be even bigger for 2015.
