Unfortunately its only going to get worse, mass layoffs will continue in every industry, housing market will continue to collapse. Government doesn't care continue importing more and more cheap labour. I actually feel sorry for new immigrants you come all excited and all you can afford is a room

The number of temporary visas to expire in 2025 is almost five million, about one for every 10 residents of Canada, according to government documents obtained ...

Imagine if canada kicked these people out how much jobs would now be able etc?

Instead nah

Breh im very sorry to hear that

you sound like you have a healthy robust professional network what’s been happening on that front?

I’m convinced someone of your pedigree will be the first candidate for an unpublished job that you get through people you know

Hang in there it will turn around. My wife’s friend was a Director who held big jobs in the insurance sector and then took on a startup gig and was laid off from that job because startup of course. It took her a good 18 months before she secured her next gig.

Wishing you all the best man I hope you get something you like soon.

it makes no difference breh. the reality of the matter is that people dont see somebody worthy of help, they just see damaged goods. and the way capitalism works they gotta look out for their companies/own ass instead of give the benefit of the doubt and help.

i wasnt even fired for any good reason...I was arguably the hardest working and most impactful person on my team in my last role who is just a victim of racism/politics. but every round of every process muhhfukkas will ask the dreaded question, "what happened at [your former employer]?" I had a 5th round interview at a top 5 pension plan last week and its like "damn...i'm still being asked that at this stage of the process?"

network hasnt been any help either. I wouldnt say I have a vast one per se...you know how Toronto is for us. employers are picky. you cant be too overqualified. but you must also have the exact experience we are looking for. and we will probably lowball you as well. I'm a CPA but because I havent practiced accounting for years and I am at that VP level no firm will take me realistically. There is one more process I am working on but it will require about a 40% paycut. Might have to bite the bullet and take it if I am successful but I wouldnt be surprised if they reject me because they know that I'd be a potential fflight risk if sumn better comes.

honestly immigrants aint a problem in my field.

most of the people who work in my field are white Canadians or people who went to school here, worked and would have gotten full citizenship by now...especially at my job level and above.

You know immigrants add to the GDP right? You also know natural born Canadians aren't having children at the rate of our parents or grandparents. We as a country can not afford a population decrease. I've stated this before, and I'll say it again, we will see China, Korea, and Japan open their borders in the next decade or 2, or they will all crumble economically because of birthrate below 2 children per couple.

Yes I know that, and yes i know that.

Hell breh my I'm waiting on my wifes PR and if it doesn't come in time my baby as well will need to get her papers. I'm not against all immigration but at this time there is no labour shortage. In this day and age with tarrifs and mass layofffs jobs should go to canadians first!!!

Wow this country is in the toilet.

Once Sears left I thouth The Bay would be able to weather any storm since we don't really have stores like that left.

Now The Bay is liquidating?

Rip Canada

The bay is done, 3 million in cash and 950 million in debt. They blocked their rewards program and screwed over all their longtime customers.

Big department stores are dead, bay didn't adapt.

I used to love hudson's bay at one point years ago but yeah its actually kind of sad the oldest company in canada is dead

Shein and sephora prob killed the bay
