After evading police on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border for 22 months, a high-profile member of the Brothers Keepers gang has been arrested in Seattle.

Naseem Ali Mohammed, 23, was picked on several charges on Nov. 8, according to U.S. jail records. He was using the name Mobert Ahmad.

The online record, however, lists his real name as an alias and says he has now been charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle with another federal felony charge pending in the U.S..

Sources confirmed the person arrested is the same gangster who sneaked across the B.C.-Montana border last January after hiding out in Canada since March 2020.

Mohammed is in custody at the King County Correctional Facility near Seattle. No court dates are listed and the district prosecutor’s office was closed for the holiday on Thursday.

He was already facing felony charges in Montana of falsely claiming U.S. citizenship and making a false statement to a U.S. department or agency. Those charges carry a maximum five-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine.

On the morning of Jan. 23, he was arrested after driving across the border at a non-checkpoint with three older men. He had no identification on him, claimed his name was Ahmed Bati and said he had been born in Seattle.

Authorities released him after several hours as a fingerprint check showed no U.S. record. They later learned his real identity, as well as his link to the notorious B.C. gang, and more serious charges were laid.

In February, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Seth Justesen swore an affidavit describing Mohammed as “a high-ranking member of the Brothers Keepers

gang in Surrey, British Columbia.”

“Canadian authorities have advised that Mohammed is the primary suspect in multiple gang-related homicides spanning two provinces,” Justesen’s affidavit also said.

Surrey RCMP Sgt. Elenore Sturko said her detachment “is aware of the arrest of Naseem Mohammed in the United States.” “As the investigation moves forward, we will continue to work with our partners at CFSEU and American authorities. “

CFSEU Sgt. Brenda Winpenny said B.C. gang members “often are perpetrators or victims of extreme acts of violence thus creating a life for themselves of having to always look over their shoulder in fear as they create enemies.”

“These gangsters flee the country in an attempt to escape their past. However, they cannot escape, and sooner or later this tragic lifestyle will catch up to them. The recent arrest of Mohammed in the States is just another example of this, while creating more victims along the way.”

Mohammed has not been charged with any murders in Canada. But he is facing other charges in both B.C. and Ontario.

In March 2020, he was charged with wilfully resisting a peace officer and escaping lawful custody after sneaking out the back door of his Surrey home during a curfew check. He was charged with unlawful confinement, assault, pointing a firearm, uttering death threats, theft and robbery after a December 12, 2019 dispute with another man.

Mohammed, who raps under the name Certi2x, has continued to do Instagram live events despite being on the run. He released a new song online on Sept. 24 called “f–k the other side” about shooting rivals.

Last May, Surrey RCMP reissued a wanted poster for him, calling him “a priority target.”

The Brothers Keepers was started in the mid-2010s by Gavin Grewal, who was shot to death in his North Vancouver penthouse apartment on Dec. 22, 2017. No one has been charged in his murder.

The gang has been locked in a bloody battle with other rivals including the Red Scorpion-Kang group and the United Nations. The Brothers Keepers is aligned with the Hells Angels Hardside chapter.

Just last week, the anti-gang Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit announced that 27 charges had been laid after a three-year investigation targeting the Brothers Keepers.

CFSEU said the gang had aggressively expanded from the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island and Kamloops.

York Regional Police say six people are facing charges in connection with a year-long human trafficking investigation that involved multiple GTA police services, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

In a news release issued Friday, York Regional Police said the investigation, dubbed Project Eonni, began in November 2020 after officers obtained information about an “organized group of suspects” who were operating a company called Moon Waiting VIP.

Police said the company was linked to human trafficking operations throughout the GTA.

According to police, the investigation began with information obtained from the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking (CCTEHT) and Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC).

With the assistance of officers in Toronto and Peel Region, as well as the OPP and the CBSA, police executed 20 search warrants at locations around the GTA, many of which were suspected of being sex trade operations, investigators said.

Six people are now facing charges and officers seized more than $4 million from accounts operated by one of the accused. Approximately $3 million in illegal cannabis was also seized along with 34 firearms and ammunition.

Police said so far they have located seven victims, who have been taken to safe locations and been put in touch with victim support services.

Investigators said 38-year-old Markham resident Di Luan, who also goes by the names of Andy Luan, Vincent Luan, Chia Hao Cheng, and Jia Hoa Zheng, faces nine charges, including trafficking in persons, material benefit from trafficking in persons, laundering proceeds of crime, fraud over $5,000, and careless storage of a firearm.

His photo has now been released by York Regional Police.

“Investigators are releasing a photo of one accused as they believe he may be involved with other vulnerable women. They are asking for those victims to come forward,” the news release read.

“Any victims of human trafficking who are hesitant to come forward due to immigration status concerns should be aware that they have the right to support and protection under the laws in Canada.”

Police say 51-year-old Scarborough resident Geoffrey Payumo, Jia Zhi Li, a 47-year-old Markham resident, 28-year-old Markham woman Ziyou Zhang, and Harold Lai, a 40-year-old man from Richmond Hill, have been charged with material benefit from trafficking in persons and procuring.

A sixth suspect, 41-year-old Toronto resident Jing Jin, has been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution.
