Fed played in 65 consecutive slams and was pretty much injury free through all of that, during that time he racked up won 17 slams including many from 03-07 when the era was quite weak and Nadal was only good on clay.

Nadal has missed slams left and right, had injuries and surgeries left and right and still racked up 14 slams by the age of 27.

If Nadal could have played 65 consecutive slams relatively injury free until the age of 34, he wins at least 18-19 slams with Fed a few back. Obviously ifs and buts but even though Fed has 18, he's underachieved and should have won more but choked in big moments, especially against Joker :yeshrug:

So if Nadal didn't get any major injuries and could play in 65 straight slams like Fed, he'd still have less slams? No chance.

Nadal would have won 09 French and 09 Wimby if not for being injured, and that straight puts him at 16 slams and Fed at 16 right away. And that's just one instance :yeshrug:

His style of play (plus PEDs) leads to injuries. It was inevitable. Nine of Nadal's 14 are at the French, which is a bullshyt surface.

The gawd has 5+ at three different majors.

Fair enough I'll concede I think Fed is the GOAT, I'll admit. But I think if not for injuries it is probably a different story. :Kermit99:

And PED's? :Frynotsure:

Nadal is king of Clay but I don't believe he would consistently dominate on hard court and grass if he was injury free to be honest.

There's no reason to believe that he wouldn't given all those years where he and Fed and he and Novak met up in the finals. If Novak didn't come along, Nadal would have Fed's record already. Injuries are what slowed him down.

BTW, someone mentioned writing about tennis earlier. If you're up for that, we're looking for sports writers of any sort. It's really casual and we do it for fun. The Coli doesn't have it's blog anymore so :manny:.

Manage your calendar and the way you play to be injury free is part of being a great champion. As great as Rafa is, I don't think he can pull out an Australian open/Indian wells/Miami triple at age 35.
There's no such thing as as if in tennis. Is Steffi would have got 22 slams if Monica seles wouldn't have been stabbed?
How many slams Serena would have if she wasn't injured a lot in her career ? And how many if Justine and Kim wouldn't have left the tour.
How many for borg if he didn't stopped his career at 25 26. How many for Connors borg and McEnroe if they would have participated more at the Australian open.
If del Potro wasn't injured he would have probably slow down Djoko Nadal and Fed streak too. We'll never have the answer to theses questions.

Also, hats off to Rog for his start to this season. Incredible what he's doing. Lubi deserves a TON of credit for getting Fed to start taking Rafa's ball early taking away that extra second Rafa has to react.

shyt shout out to Rafa too. In December had you told me he would be ranked 2 in the points race for THIS season, not overall, and have made 3 HC finals, I'd take that ANY DAY. Hopefully he doesn't play all 4 clay events before RG (MC, Barcelona, Madrid, AND Rome) and thanks about skipping one to manage his schedule but this is his fav tine of year so i doubt that happens. Secure a top 4 seed for RG and go from there

If federer had a 2handedBH he would have near 30 majors with wins against Nadal on clay, the fukk outta here with this revisionist shyt.

Take that out too and Fed's up 10-3 in the major count...and 10-9 in head-to-heads. :shaq:

3-1 vs Rafa in h2h in the GS tho then :shaq:

But i WILL concede that Fed is GOAT but that Rafa is better h2h and thats due to being a bad match up for Fed just like Daveydenko had a match up style against Rafa.

Does anyone know Serena's schedule this year? Seems to be one event before each major minus the Wimby of course. I wonder what she's choosing as her US Open warm up. Hope it's Cincy, but that might be too small. I miss when her website had her schedule up. A legend is gearing down.

The GOAT is playing a charity event at Key Arena against that scrub Isner in a few weeks. I'm gonna have to go. :lupe:
