Fed/Stan won Gold at the '08 Olympics. Realistically, it would have been an upset if they had lost. Anyway, Tsonga fukkin up as usual when it matters, Gasquet still mentally frail. If Clément has any guts, he'd put Monfils (only on who's 110% fired up at home) against Wawrinka hoping for a W and play Simon against Fed. But it doesn't look good at all for us.

But the Fed/Stan paring lost their last 4 matches in a row in Davis cup, so even though they are gold medal winners, they played well below their potential when it mattered.

This was a must win match for both teams, with Federer's health up in the air, most are pencilling in another loss for him (as I would) against Tsonga or Bennateau (Simon aint on the team) so it all rests on Stan and Monflis...

There's rumors Tsonga is slightly injured though, and I'd trust someone like Simon over Gasquet who Fed has to hit through and who won't make errors and can go 4 hours solid

And maybe Roger-Vasselin instead of Gasquet in doubles (which some people questioned), because you could tell Benneteau was carrying him all match today, they never had a real shot

True for the colored. Gasquet/Bennet did won bronze in the last Olympics but they haven't played together once in 2014... Bennet has had a wonderful year in doubles (won the French Open, runner-up in the Masters) but he did all his results with Roger-Vasselin. The French doubles team by default was Gasquet/Tsonga this year so even thow the Swiss had a bad year, at least they knew each other and played with each other quite often so that's why I'm not surprised by their performance above all when Gasquet kinda let Bennet down.

And yes Simon is on the team, he's the fifth man (Bennet is fourth). But Tsonga being number one, he'll have to play Fed tomorrow (injury excepted I guess) so Monfils will be against Stan.

Tsonga might be slightly injured (something at the elbow apparently) but the whole French team is resting for two weeks now while Wawrinka and Federer were going at it in the Masters last week. It's almost unforgivable man. I blamed it on the stress :lolbron:

And Roger-Vasselin might have been the right choice honestly. Him and Bennet played as a team this whole year. But maybe Clément thought that having Simon for a surprise in the last singles would be interesting. Don't know.

Where's Simon right now? Guess he can't play cause he wasn't in the orginal 4 that played already, odk.
He is on the squad, but isn't playing VS federer right now. You know who is?? I'll give you a hint, cocaine is a hell of a drug...

damn, this gonna turn into a beating. We love gasquet but he don't have that spirit in him. Simon is the only french player who got a game that federer don't like and had a chance. We really thought clay was the surface where we could have done something but let's not forget federer is the second best player on this surface behind nadal. They just got lucky he had his back issues
