that missed backhand volley was not 'the point' - there was no 'the point'

he pushed it to a 5th anyway, it's not like he lost after that shot

i feel ya. im in CT so im indoors at least half the year. have only played outdoors once since my last match so the transition may not be that smooth. gonna practice heavy the next few days. ordered another backup racquet and shoes too. if my serve isnt on i have no chance but itll be good to get out there

Man, my last 3 matches were horrendous (I dragged those matches to hell because I couldn't end points quick enough...) and were all losses in 3 (3/6 6/4 2/6 :snoop:, 6/4 3/6 1/6 :snoop:, 6/7 6/4 0/6 :snoop:)
I'm a do some tourneys late august/early sept but I defo need to change my game and flatten it more. Tired of spinning the hell out of the ball and it rebounding in the service boxes :snoop: I got Nadal first rounds syndrome because of my lack of training. Now that I don't train anymore and only do tourneys for fun, I can't manage to keep my 100% level a whole match and can only do it for a set max so I end up losing to players I should win to above all because I don't have enough focus in my third sets. So disappointing.

Damn breh. Those third set wipe outs

You gotta have variety to your shots, mix some slice in and put some drop shots down. Come to the net too. Even if you lose a few of those points itll get them out of rhythm. Plus if I had a long point and im really winded ill usually just dropshot and take my chances. I like to play fast too, point is over, im ready for the next one.

How are your serves? Ive been harping on it but im always a proponent of coming to the net. If you are getting tired in the third set you gotta start to dictate the points and force them to run. short topspin gives them all the time in the world to get there and put a good shot on it. You dont need to come up early, just start understanding the trends of where they are hitting the ball and when (depending on what shot you hit)...once you see them consistently giving shots up the middle in certain situations start chasing that shot in and put that volley away.

What level are you at right now and what racquet/string are you using? Maybe its time to go to a bigger stick. Right now im using the youtek ig prestige pro. shyt is over 12 oz, one of the heaviest on the market and i overgrip and leather tape it at times. clubbing the fukk out of it with intellitour 16 gauges at 2 lbs tighter than the range. just ordered a different racquet as backup since i didnt see the ig prestige pro on Fromuth anymore, got the Head YouTek IG Extreme Pro 2.0

Yeah man, completely obliterated in my thirds. SMH. It's a mix of lack of stamina, less focus but also declining form in my shots. The more I play and the more I tend to lose my form it seems which I wasn't victim of when I was training regularly (I'm not a high ranked player at all, just a 3.0).

I've always been a base-liner and I come to the net and make drop-shots when I'm sure to end the point with it (slowly pushing the opp deeper than when I'm well inside the court, dropshot or huge flat forehand on the bh then volley). I'm not really good at it but I'm not bad either. My hand's not good enough for me to do it more otherwise it wouldn't be efficient enough and I'll end up losing points more than winning em with that strategy. So drop-shots and volleys are only when my odds are high because I also like to dictate the tempo and sit inside the court to distribute.

My main racket is a Prince Rebel 95. I'm accurate with it though I tend to make more and more mistakes when I'm not focused. Sometimes I switch with my Prince Ozone MPs because their head size is bigger so they are more tolerant but I'm less good at flat strokes with em so I keep my main Rebel because I can spin and flatten with the same efficiency.

But all in all, it's really my lack of training that does that. If I were hitting regularly, I would be able to keep up during 3 sets. But I don't really care like that honestly, I only play for fun :lolbron:
