Popyrin played him tough In Australia and Wimbledon. Gotta believe the familiarity helped him tonight.

I think that gold medal is the last big title Novak wins. If he doesn't take the 2025 AO, I think his run will finally be over.

Also helps that he just won a 1000 tournament earlier in the month. He's been on a roll. He's beaten 5 top 10 players this year...

Novak doesn’t care. He’s completed what he wanted to compete.
It does seem like he didn't have the quite enough motivation but credit to Popyrin who played probably the match of his life, if he can bottle this kind of level he can win more big titles.

Was impressed with his all round game tonight.

The gold medal against Carlos might be to Djokovic what Brady’s SB win was against Mahomes, his final big stage win.

We might gotta put Zverev in the biggest choker ever in any sport convos if he cant win this whole thing now. Its insane he still got 0 GS NO ONE would believe you back then if you said hed have 0 slams by 2024. His bracket was already nice for em then Novak just got upset. Med and Sinner on the other side....

He still took the olympic, that was his biggest goal this year and he achieved it, job done
:manny:

This. He was mentally fully in on Olympics this year, that's all he wanted more than anything else. He has won everything else. I think we judge where he's truly at come next season when he's rested and ready to go at the AO.
