If one of these top players sand bagged for a year, I'm half convinced they could beat Joker if they got him in the first or second round. He's always still feeling stuff out in the early rounds of Slams against nobodies, then kicks it into high gear in the second week.

For sure, but I don't think he plays possum in early matches. I really think he views them as tune-ups/practice sessions and isn't dialed in so these randoms wind up stealing a set or pushing him for three hours when they have no business doing so.

If he played Popyrin in the quarters, would Popyrin even win eight games?
