Fiba is strongly against it because it would give the US a huge advantage: The rest of the world doesn't have an equivalent to the NCAA and young NBA players are far too advanced compared to those from overseas.
David Stern is just following the recommendations of NBA owners.

If went only send our amateur players, the euros will have the gold medal on lock. Our college players couldn't hang with their pros anymore in 1988.

I don't know if Kobe actually said that or not but if asked he almost has to. He can't throw our weak ass interior under the bus as the Olympics are underway.

Everyone knows Robinson/Ewing/Barkley/Malone is far superior than what we had this time out.

to be fair our team was also weaker than the one from 2008 up front, because we didn't have Howard & Bosh defending also missed Wade

But in 2016 we will have better big men to choose from

Breh, these Russians can be animals....beating up people damn near everyday at the Euro 2012. It didn't matter if they win or lose either, they beating people up...thats how they celebrate and vent. They beat up staff at the stadium and other fans for no reason.
