From what I’ve seen in actual sales and auctions, along with read and heard from others, PSA 9 and Raw will be roughly the same value for a lot of modern era cards.

PSA 10 can be anywhere from 1.5x - 3x the cost of a PSA 9.

It really depends on print run and era of cards. Older cards or cards that are hard to gem, you’ll see a higher multiplier on the 10.

I know it would just be your opinion, but do you think $300-400 on those playoff ticket on card autos for Cam would be a good price to buy at for PSA 8-9? I want to pull the trigger on the PSA 10 one, but I don't know if I'm getting ripped off for $1,500.

Edit: And, do you think it makes sense to just stick to PSA graded cards for NFL instead of Beckett?

I think PSA 9 of that card for 300-400 is pretty damn solid.

PSA 10 of that card for 1-1.5K isn’t that bad. Especially when you consider that people are paying several hundred for Tyler Herro and Baker Mayfield cards. If you can get that card for 800-900ish, I think that’s the play.

As far as Beckett vs PSA, @Regular_P would be a much better resource than me. From what I’ve been seeing it the hobby over last couple years, people have been moving over to PSA by and large and it has seemingly become the “default” slab.

Thick stock cards (RPAs, NT, Flawless, Immac) still seem to be in BGS cases more often than not, though

The last PSA 10 auction was through PWCC and it was around $650; $1,500 is way too high.

2011 Playoff Contenders Cam Newton ROOKIE RC AUTO #228 PSA 10 GEM MINT | eBay

ALWAYS go with PSA over BGS if you have the choice, especially with rookie cards. PSA 10s are damn near doubling BGS 9.5s now with a lot of RCs.

Thanks for the information.

What was the best sites or places to find information on what cards have sold for? I am definitely interested in buying cards, and have the capital, but I don't want to get smoked.

I don't mind paying even a little more over recent sale amounts, as I plan on just starting a collection and holding for a while.

If you see any Newton, Murray, or Jackson cards that look like they are a decent deal, I'm open to buying any in the range up to $3,000ish per card. I wouldn't say $3,000 is the cut off limit, but that's just a range.

Make a free account on PWCC's site. They have the best research tool because it goes back many years instead of eBay's three months.

I generally go off auction prices first, then Best Offer/BIN prices if there aren't many comps.

Has a really clean auto. Good luck, man.

I'm assuming his looks much better than say........that CeeDee Lamb card with the auto I posted before?

And, thanks for the information about PWCC. That will be very helpful as I did not realize Ebay only goes back three months.

Also, am I blind, or is the following correct?

I used the PWCC market place and searched for "2011 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket Cam Newton RC AUTO PSA", choosing "Fixed price and auction".

Is the PSA 10 that I'm seeing sold on September 27, 2020 for $1,499 the same variation and grade of card that I see sold on January 3, 2021 for $499?

Lost out by $15 on the Cam Newton card PSA 9. It went for about $250. I would have been willing to pay that. I think I set my max bid at $240. I should have set it higher.

If you have fixed price under your search options, it won't say what the best offer on it was, just the initial BIN. I generally just stick to auction prices on PWCC's search.

I wouldn't use all the words when searching for that Cam card either. I'd stick with "2011 cam newton contenders psa 10" to get more hits.

I adjusted it and found some comparisons. I should have big higher tonight as the card went for about $220 for a PSA 9.

I missed by $5 on a Jerry Jeudy National Treasure and same for Ruggs, but it is what it is. Not going to massively overpay.
