My family moved to Tampa a generation ago from New York. I'll be moving back shortly with the lady to Jacksonville while we finish our degrees. It wasn't even my idea but I'm glad to be back and closer to them. Didn't realize so much of the coli was there. Not sure if that's bad or good. :francis:

What's wrong with the city of Doral? I've never been to the bars, but there's mad local restaurants with good ethnic food.

my boys been trying to get me to go to some spot called Rock Bar up there. I don't know what the atmosphere is like up there. But I've heard nothing but good things about Las Olas Blvd.

In my opinion Wet Willies and Fat Tuesday on Ocean Drive are overrated and overpriced.

GO!:wow:

Dolphins and Heat owners back Murphy, but Lightning and Magic owners with Rubio

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is a big Miami Dolphins fan, but the owner of the franchise may not be as big of a fan of his it turns out.

Campaign finance reports show that in September Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross, a Republican, donated $50,000 to a political action committee supporting Rep. Patrick Murphy, the Democrat seeking to beat Rubio next week. Ross also donated $5,400 to Murphy’s main campaign committee in August 2015.

He’s hardly the only sports franchise owner weighing into the U.S. Senate race between Murphy and Rubio.

- Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg is also backing Murphy. Campaign finance records show he donated $5,400 to Murphy, though Murphy’s campaign listed Sternberg’s company as the “Tampa Bay Devil Rays.” The franchise dropped the “Devil” from its name just before the 2008 season.

- Micky Arison, owner of the Miami Heat and chairman of Carnival Corporation, sent $4,000 toward Murphy’s Senate campaign in September 2015.

- Orlando Magic owner Richard DeVos and his family are clearly big Rubio fans. On June 30, DeVos, his wife and his children combined to send Rubio $54,000.

- And Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik in August donated $20,000 to a political action committee Rubio runs called the Florida First Project. Vinik and his wife also donated $5,400 through a pair of donations in July to Rubio’s Senate campaign.

While Rubio’s hometown Dolphins may not be backing him, he’s getting big help from another NFL owner. Robert McNair, chairman of the Houston Texas gave Rubio $5,400 in August. That is in addition to $494,000 McNair gave to a political action committee that backed Rubio’s run for the White House.

Miami Is the Hardest Place in America to Get a Mortgage, Especially if You're Not White

As someone who has interest in buying one day in the next 12 to 18 months, I found this article interesting. So much of the population is black and Latino and the mortgage approval rates are so low. It's true what they say about the high rent costs. I see no point in moving out and renting when the apartments are so expensive. That's why I think it's best to save for a down payment. But based on this, that's not guaranteed. I encourage everyone to try and get their credit up cuz they won't approve anything if you're a minority.

And that's why I'm not buying a home in South Florida PERIOD. I moved back to Miami last week only because I got 3 semesters left to graduate & I can't do online classes anymore. I'm taking my butt right back to Atlanta once I get this degree. Makes no sense how high everything is out here.
