Salina de la Renta Signing With WWE Soon? - Wrestling Inc.

Salina de la Renta was at the WWE Performance Center today.

The former MLW star was reportedly training at the WWE Performance Center earlier today, according to Fightful Select. There’s no word on if she was training in the ring, participating in a promo class, or something else.

It’s believed that WWE has offered Salina a contract, or they are planning to. The company has had interest in signing Salina for some time now, going back a few years.

It was reported last week by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Salina is set to close her merchandise store at the end of this month, a possible sign that she was headed to WWE or another company that would not allow her to sell her own merchandise independently.

Salina confirmed her MLW departure back in early May after working with the company for the past few years following a run on the indies as an in-ring talent and personality. In 2019 she became the first Latina to produce pro wrestling on American TV with MLW Fusion. At the time of her MLW departure she asked fans on Twitter where they wanted to see her end up, and she expressed interest in joining WWE.

She seems to be an independant entrepreneur, why would she ever give up her brand to work for them? It makes absolutely no sense

More exposure, more clout in the long term, and when the inevitable Future Endeavors tweet comes? More money since she can pro rate her appearances/whatever she decides to do from there as a former WWE Superstar?:yeshrug:

How many women in the mainstream really tout WWE as their big break? Sasha did it on her own. AJ left the limelight. Lita's band never went top 40. Trish went back to being a fitness guru which she was before. And none of them had the simp penetration that Selina does. It will never make sense why people think working for Vince will be a major upwards career move. The brand is the star. Always will be.

She wants instant exposure and that's what the WWE provides.

Sasha got the role because of her talent agency, but she doesn't even get the opportunity if she wasn't a popular WWE star.

Thats not true. That implies that shed only be with that talent agency because she was a wrestler first. And even if that were true, they sure didnt treat Sasha like a big star until she sat out and made those moves on her own.

Do you know when she signed with that agency? Because I doubt she was with them before her NXT days, and you're right that the company didn't treat her like a big star but the fans did. Appearing on Hot Ones, Wild N Out, and Star Wars is because she's Sasha Banks and not Mercedes Varnado.

Your argument is exposure though and she wasnt getting it because the company wasnt treating her like a big star. She wasnt really on promotional posters or in larger storylines that really lent to any kind of talent other than wrestling.

And even if we were to excuse all of that thats ONE example of many and a flimsy one at that. Even the Bella twins who they have gone out of their way to prop up cant do anything major in Hollywood without it being WWE produced.

This isnt to say WWE CAN'T get someone to the next level, its just abundantly clear that they havent really cared to.
