It's all about having immediate access. There's no waiting for a download or an upload. All which while can be fast enough these days, is still various amounts of minutes of time. I have a 4 TB in my PS5 currently and going to take that out and add it to the Pro so I'll have near 6 TBs of immediately accessible games. WATTBA, bish.
An 8TB drive in a PS5 with 2TBs of internal storage already is expensive cold storage. You don't really even have to manage the storage on a 4TB drive anymore and can just be reckless with it. Considering how they rape you on 8TBs and we doing stuff like pay in 4 that doesn't seem like a good deal. You can get a 4TB for under $250 if you want and skip the external and have $450 or so left over.

I have a 4TB drive in my PS5 right now. 58 games total 24 of them PS5 games and I still have 2.16TBs free on the 4TB and am using none of the internal drive. You could double my numbers and still have over half a TB free. On a Pro you'd have damn near 2TBs free.

Realistically what person is going to rotate 40+ PS5 games and almost 70 PS4 games all at the same time? And that's just a 4TB's potential.
What are these games my friend? I ask cause I was also on a 4tb kick, but after seeing this, I might not

The theory is that a game like COD is about 300 fukking gigs... 2k 200... GTA 100 something..... any open world AAA game, 80-100.... That's not counting saves and DLC and captures

shyt I can't keep but 5-10 games on mine and that's if COD ain't there.. So to get 58 by adding 2tb is a huge leap in my head.... But please brother... save me some money!!

Generation is only half over, will be easy to fill up a 4tb drive by the time stuff like GTA, Monster Hunter Wilds, Marathon, etc. drop

That's what I'm saying. A guy on YouTube made a video about it and had 200+ PS5 games on an 8TB drive trying to fill it.

Realistically to fill 4TB + 2TB it's going to require you having games sitting on the drive you aren't playing and hell some you may never play.

If you're going to sit games on a drive not in use you're better off getting an external and getting way more storage for that. Nobody is filling up what amounts to 6TB with games in active use.

You never know what game you randomly are going to want to play. There's about 50 on PSN alone that I randomly see at times and say "Damn I never did play that...... But I'm not deleting a game, downloading a game, then playing it. Just so I can do that shyt again when I want to play Madden"

Then someone comes over and wants to play VR or GTA and I've got to delete a few games... Then I get them back

That's hassle I don't feel like dealing with... But unlike digital where the only benefit is not getting off the couch.... This is wasting my TIME

Yeah, i personally think 8tb is OD but thats kind of the point. Its paying for the convenience of never having to think about installing or deleting a game ever again, thats just pure luxury.

can’t be mad at it, it’s a tangible difference in convienence
