Why give them any of that money so early? I gave them the required $100 but nothing more.
Speaking for myself, I paid off my Battlefield 4 Launch Bundle from Amazon the day I ordered it for 3 reasons
1) I do believe you are required to pay it off when preordering from Amazon (they authorize the amount and hold it till it ships. I paid with Gift Card so they just took the amount needed from the gift card balance)
2) I'd rather pay it off now and not worry about it incase something comes up down the line and that money is gone
3) I refuse to stand in line and would rather have it shipped to my door to avoid the long line. Plus I'm an Amazon Prime customer, Prime 2 day shipping guarantees release date delivery. Judging by past orders shipped using Prime shipping, I'll have my PS4 by noon on release day
There are no charges for preordering on amazon. They charge you when your item ships. If you have gift card money in your account it will try to apply it on your preorder but you can deselect the option.
I had gift card balance that I used to pay the whole thing off. amazon took the amount needed for the bundle from the gift card pool and they're holding it till the bundle ships
