Do you want the gig anymore?
Absolutely! Just nervous because I already have a 7 day cruise booked for the family in September and I need about 4 days to handle some of my side business during the day.
So if I'm offered the job I'm going to have to have a conversation about needing about 11 vacation days off rip. I would be hurt if that costed me the job.
The team I met seemed dope as hell. The office environment was laid back. The work day they described seemed perfect. A lot of autonomy to shoot the content you want for the city with some more structured work and events they need you to shoot on deadlines. It would mean I'd be doing video production full time and part time. Hopefully put me in position to have a job that I actually love and get to be creative vs my current job answering customer calls looking for tracking information and hunting people down to make payments on their past due invoices.

Yeah, I was in a similar position with my current full-time gig.
I work for a IT Consulting firm, but all of the projects that I've worked on during my time here have had me doing Project Management/Program Management type of work. Just typical boring shyt. There's all types of work being done here with various clients, but once you get aligned on a specific career track, they kind of funnel you that direction, unless you actively put your foot down and seek something new/different.

I rolled off my last project about almost 3 weeks ago, and within a day, someone was hitting me up seeing if I wanted to talk about joining his team which would have been another PMO kind of role... and I just had to be like no. Now mind you... I've been fortunate to work from home going on 8 years now with my company, and the role the guy was offering was another remote role, but I had to turn it down and seek something else. Just landed my next project which is way more aligned with what I'm doing on the side with my agency, starts tomorrow... I'll have to go in to the office during the week, but I'm fine with it.

I've been EATING for years at home anyway

Man I would crush a home job!
You know how much video editing and phone calls I would handle while on someone else’s clock if I could. :wow:
I’m just at a stage in life for real where I feel like I need to be doing what I love and not just what I tolerate. Life is way too short and we spend way too much time away from our families and at a job to not be enjoying what we do.
I been really feelin like what brother Malcolm X said when he spoke about how the white man gets to have his heaven on this Earth while the rest of us live in hell with the hope of seeing heaven when we die. There has to be more breh, and I’m on my quest to find it.

I was able to watch my daughter for her first 2 years while working from home. Grateful to have that flexibility, this week was the first time we had to put her in daycare.
:mjcry:

I'm on the same thing tho, I actually got on the project I'm on now because I interviewed for a different role with this guy, and he was like, "Yeah it sounds like you can do this job, but do you want to do it?" and I just kept it real with him like, I have a passion for storytelling and content creation, and he looked out for me and connected me with some other people within the same program that need creatives and people that have my skillset.

Only reason I've tolerated doing these basic roles for so long was because of the convenience they gave me, but this time I had to take things in my own hands and do more.

they allow large cameras inside?
Depends on the arena.

I've never had issues here in Chicago with my camera gear. However, when I went to a Warriors game a few years ago, the staff tried turning me away.

I had to walk around to another gate and find someone who didn't care. That shyt blew me tho

We were contracted to shoot a cheer leading competition at the ODU Monarchs Stadium (The monarchs weren't playing, it was a private competition being held there) and security and management stopped us from entering because our cameras had cages with handles on them. My boy had a 18 - 35 mm lens and I had a 50 - 100 mm. They initially said "No one is allowed here with professional cameras". So I asked "What's a professional camera?" According to them, no cameras with interchangeable lenses were allowed into the event at all, even though their own website said you could bring cameras as long as the focal length didn't exceed 150 mm. It was obvious they didn't know what they were talking about and were just acting stupid because they saw fancy looking cameras.
