I need advice brehs, I want to cop my first camera for my travels and also some events that I'm doing. I want something that's great to get started but I can also upgrade later on with lenses. I'll be mainly talking pictures while traveling, at parties and doing short interviews

you might be able to get a sony 6300 new for under a G. i think thats the only camera under a G with 4k video also.

all other options would be used. for your events, will they be well lit, or semi dark?
I imagine both:ld:

This right here, a new camera body won't do anything if your lenses aren't good. That T5i is more than capable, just invest in some good quality lenses and a tripod.

I use this for city shots, works perfectly, quality is top notch. It is pricey, however I bought mine from a friend slightly used for half the cost.

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens 1242B002 B&H Photo Video

For a tripod I bought one of these and love it, good quality, lightweight, and versatile:

Thanks again breh.

Do you think the Canon 17-55mm is the best lenses for me? :lupe:

A good walking around lenses?

That price though. :whew:

I understand you can rent it, but I want to practice with it before I go on my trip. :ld:

ETA: Have you heard of lensrentals.com? Seems reliable, I guess I could rent it for 30 days.

With it's focal length at 17mm there wouldn't be much you couldn't cover and f/2.8 aperture its fast and very good in low light. A great walk around lens. I know breh, the price is up there, it's damn near L glass pricing, quality is great.

Only other lens from Canon I can think of is the 28-105mm, this came packaged with a few of their camera bodies, it not as nice as the 17-55mm 2.8, however for a walkaround its more than capable. Not sold new anymore, you should be able to find one used for a very good price.

Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM

I will say Tamron and Sigma make excellent lenses as well, especially Tamron's 28-75mm f/2.8.

LensRentals.com - Rent a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD for Canon
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Xr Di
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS

Yea, I used LensRentals.com for the last 5 years, I always get the Canon 100-400mm for airshows and race events, hard to beat their service and pricing, never had an issue.

:salute: appreciate it breh, I help where I can. When I got started with my 1st DSLR, I had so many questions and 1 close friend that was into it, I hit him up, forums, and practiced till I got the results I wanted.

Honestly there is probably quite a few books on DSLR's photography, I only bought one:

EF Lens Work III

It goes into a little of technique for photos, explain the basics with examples, and has 80% of Canon's lenses with specs. The copy I have the binder is worn off, that is how much I read it. Other than that I hit these 2 sites:

Digital Photography Review

Photography-on-the.net Digital Photography Forums

Definitely read your manual, it's usually the most skipped over item .
